Tough to say, since this is almost unprecedented outside of natural disasters that disrupted infrastructure and delivery.

well crap... I was using this time to do various projects around the house which necessitated a run or 5 to the local Lowes.

Take and out groceries will be exempt. From listening to Turner yesterday, I think enforcement of this will be very minimal. The two things that really change from where we are today that I can see:
1.) Retail closes. Not sure how many people are out shopping and I'd imagine most are already closed, but that's official.
2.) If your company was holding out on WFH and isn't in the very broad category of "essential", now your employer will have to let you WFH.
For a big majority of us, tomorrow will look very similar to yesterday.

Home improvement/hardware stores have been exempt in all of the other county orders. Also grocery, auto supply/repair, pet supplies/care, take out food, necessary healthcare, laundry, businesses needed to supply people to work from home, and a bunch of other loopholes.

I've read it. And I assume Harris will be the exact same.
This has to be some kind of conduit to more funding because it's not very different from where things stand now.
Hopefully it follows Dallas County and just gets named something more appropriate. We're not under military attack or dealing with a chemical release with a short shelf life.
Hopefully our city leaders have been paying attention to the other cities that citizens need some sense of "normalcy" to keep everyone calm. As long as people limit their external activity to necessary things and there's no major congregating in close quarters that's a major gain and very doable.
If we can keep HEB, Lowe's, liquor stores, and Mexican take out available the city of Houston will get through this.
If any of those are taken away there will be anarchy in the streets. I'll be in those streets anarching myself.

I honestly think it's just an attempt to get people to pay more attention and to better adhere to what they should be doing anyway. Something about it being an official order driving behavior change rather than trusting people to just be decent and change behavior on their own.

Exactly. We went on about an hour drive Sunday to get out of the house. Didn't stop anywhere, but if we need to run an "errand" to grab some ice cream or something, so be it.
