Looks like the former "Branch" on Long Point is being repainted. Anyone know what its going to be?

"The space that previously housed The Branch brewpub on Long Point Drive will soon be home to a second location for La Cruderia Mexican restaurant. David J. Littwitz of Littwitz Investments represented La Cruderia Spring Branch LLC in leasing the 3,069-square-foot building at 7710 Long Point Drive in Spring Branch. La Cruderia's original location is at 8394 Bellaire in southwest Houston. Simon Ha of Braun Enterprises represented the landlord, 7710 Long Point Realty. The restaurant will have a full bar, large covered patio and drive-thru. Opening is planned in late summer."

Anyone know WTF is going on with the HEB at Kempwood and Gessner? Is it closing, moving, remodeling?

They've been moving stock around, cutting back on stock, rearranging the layout, etc for a couple months now. There's temporary freezers and product staging in random spots all over the store.

With the way they've cut back on what they stock and they keep moving shlt around it's a royal pain in the ass to shop in there nowadays.

Given the area, maybe transforming to a Mi Tienda?

got some intel the other day at Barnaby's Tanglewood that they're closing down that location shortly and opening a SB spot at the old "Shoot the Moon" on Long Point.

They'll do well there.

Remodeling. I agree that is a giant pain in the ass.

There were similar issues when bunker Hill remodeled but not as big a freak because they simply have more room. Same issue though of never being able to find stuff.

It is my understanding that Bludorn will be opening in the old Jonathan's the Rub spot on Gaylord. Granted, that's not technically Spring Branch but it's right across the street.

New Jarro is two times or more the cost of El Gran Pastor Food Truck with about the same amount of ambiance.

Not near as nice as old Jarro.

Been wondering if Jarro was any good since it reopened. El Gallo is our goto for Mexican for lunch.

Anyone know what is going in at the old Tasting Room in City Centre? They finally are doing a build out in there and there was a sign for a company getting their liquor license for that location.

Looks to be the development at the Westview and Witte. Pretty excited as it's very close to me. End of article makes it sound like Christine Ha will gave a couple restaurants in the same development
Looks like the 2 new underbelly spots on Witte & Westview are set to open this fall.

Drive past it every day, parking lot done and some landscaping, building is not even close, looks like they are keeping the old frame but not much looks to have been done next to it. Some kind of sand volleyball bar called decoy is going in next to it

Hope this won't count as a derail, but you reminded me that I was pleasantly surprised to find a pretty good Old fashioned at Double Trouble on Main a few weeks ago.

Agreed. It's pretty close to the office, so drive by it frequently. They've been working on that site for a long time, and it still looks to be a long way off.

So there looks to be a growing fire in a space that has been cleared for new development. Started over the weekend.

It's South of Emnora and North if Hammerly. Close to Hollister.

Curious if it was purposely set on fire by developer or if the brush caught fire.

They've been clearing that land, mulching it all up, and staging it there in huge mulch piles.

Looks like one of those mulch piles caught fire.

There is a fire truck out there by the pile and has been since Saturday. There are also a couple more fire trucks at Cedar Brook elementary school which is a little east of the fire.

Firefighters responded to the site earlier Monday and had to bring the fire under control, according to the Houston Fire Department. They first posted about the fire just before 11:30 a.m.
The fire department said the burning piles consist of large mulch, tree debris, logs stacked up to 15 feet high, and live trees as well.
The contractor was contacted and told it would need a mitigation company, according to HFD. Fire department units will remain at the site until they arrive.

Saw smoke down Long Point looking West from Wirt around 7PM. Surely not the same fire still going?

Still going on…pretty wild

Feels very odd to have this going on right outside the neighborhood and not really have any clarity on what's actually going on.

Last I heard, they estimated it would be burning till Thursday.

What do you wanna know?

With so much fuel they have to just let these mulch fires burn. They did the same thing this summer when the Living Earth facility on Tanner caught fire. Just monitor it as it burns.

It's just trees and mulch so besides just smoke inhalation there's no real health risk.
