A friend that lives off Kemp Forest told me he heard that their would be retail along Gessner, but I haven't seen anything yet.

Supposed to be retail there and I heard Juarez is moving up over there into a new building (not sure if its on that land or not).

Ya it's a nice little spot and cool concept with making your own drink and paying by the ounce. Saves you money on tipping a bartender. Food leaves something to be desired.

Everyone I know that's been to Shoot the Moon say it's just ok. They expected more. Not bad, but not great. I have yet to go.

Went to Shoot the Moon once after it had been open a few weeks and never went back. Unless it's changed, food was not good (hard to mess up pizza, but cheese was not good) and although the concept of getting your own wine is good, it didn't work well. For each wine choice there was one bottle and of course it would be empty after just four full pours. It was hard to get a glass of wine as everyone was waiting for the staff to replace bottles. The card system was terrible also. Better places to go in Spring Branch. Wife sent a nice email with feedback on experience and rather than make mention to please try again, they just basically said "f off."

Had a similar experience with Shoot the Moon. One and done for me.

Everyone I know that has done Shoot the Moon feels the same. I haven't even bothered with it. Glad I didn't buy their lifetime of pizza card.

Here is an update on the development at Witte & Westview. I recently noticed they are clearing that corner lot.

I don't remember the rest, but Juarez is moving over there from their current run down building.

Not exactly the Branch, but another city centre type development coming to Memorial City Mall.

For those who commented on poor experiences at Shoot the Moon, read it's closing after today. Guess all the bad experiences weren't the minority. Hopefully we can get something good to replace that space.

Wow. That didn't last long. Glad I didn't fall for their "give us $1k in seed money and get pizza for life" scam.

Are they doing something with that old gas station at Witte & Westview? Would be nice to see that turn into something with the development across the street.

That was the other side of witte. Gotta go back to Late March for info on the old gas station.

Looks like they don't have it leased yet but they are fixing it up.

Seems this area always has interesting ideas and either never happens or takes years to happen.

Low Tide on Bingle just south of Hammerly just had their soft opening. They are still working out their kinks and getting their servers up to snuff, but I thought the food was good enough to warrant a return in the future. Hopefully it makes it. Give it a shot, but be understanding of their struggles with service right now.

Looks yummy! I don't see prices on their online menu. Reasonable?

I would consider it reasonably priced.

Walking distance to The Boozenasium. I went back Saturday for the first time in a few years and it hasn't changed.

I was off Bunker Hill & Westview so a little drive a ways from there but my kid played soccer at St Marks Lutheran. Seems like a nice area.

Yeah, neighborhood looks pretty nice/well kept. Good and bad thing that there are only two entry points. Nobody will use the streets as a passthrough, but also annoying you can't just drive down to Westview, have to go up to Longpoint.

Was just hoping someone here would have firsthand experience.

Don't know much about that neighborhood specifically but it gets pretty sketchy once you go north of LP.

It's pretty barrio-ish north of LP and east of Bingle and you're right on the edge.

I have some friends that I helped by just east of there. Great area.

Odd that the two parts of the neighborhood aren't connected to each other.

We looked to rent there while building and that bugged me. Ended up renting elsewhere based on a bigger and more updated house.

For buying, be aware the middle school is zoned to Landrum, not SBMS.

yeah, my wife has heard that since it's VOE it's easy to transfer/magnet into SBMS, but we haven't really looked that hard into it.

We'd prefer Spring Valley Villages or Monarch Oaks but may have missed the boat on those neighborhoods by a year or so....
