I'm still searching for my local SB replacement for Tierra Caliente on West Alabama. May have to give Maderos a try.
Those folks have a taco counter at the new gas station on Durham and 17thish. A way away from spring branch though.

if the chiliquilas at Casa De Leon aren't in your rotation, you're missing out

Tacos Dona Lena on Hammerly and Hollister are some damn good tacos and their gorditas are like a little spicy slice of heaven

Just moved to central Spring Branch and think there is a bit of a restaurant drought, unless you love tacos, which I do. Anyone know any good Asian restaurants - (Chinese, Thai) mainly.

Also anyone have any recommendations for dry cleaning places?

Vieng Thai on Longpoint has great food. Live singing on weekends I believe. Saw a great 5'3" Asian Elvis there once.
The story isn't that [DeSantis] "couldn't win" the primary. The story is that an overwhelming majority of our population is heinously stupid. 50% of them vote for communists. 75% of the remaining 50% vote for Trump, who cant win. When the majority of the opposition party insists on voting for an opposition candidate who can't win, you get exactly the government you deserve. - Well Endowed Ag

Most of the Chinese in the area is crap. The above mentioned Vien Thai is the only decent Thai place I know of.

Lots of great Vietnamese options. Pho Huy at Gessner and Emnora, Pho Saigon on Gessner, Pho Luc Lac at Campbell and Kempwood, and Roostar for bahn mi on Gessner.

Haven't tried it yet but have heard good things about Krisp Korean Fried Chicken on Longpoint.

For dry cleaners there's a great place in the same center as Pho Huy at Emnora and Gessner we've used for a couple years now. Never had an issue with anything and they're friendly good people.

We tried Bang Bang Thai Rotisserie on Long Point the other day. It was disappointing. The chicken was tough and it was siracha-heavy. It seemed lazy. The fried rice tasted a bit burnt, with a mix of smells from the gas tanks on the NYC hot dog street carts.

On a side note, Slow Pokes is over there now, behind where Shoot the Moon and Feges will be. It's very solid coffee.

Vieng Thai and pho luc lac are my two go to's for asian food. Best Chinese I've found north of 10 is Panda Express, there's a pretty good Chinese place off Gessner south of 10 behind the hospital which I don't remeber the name of.

For dry cleaners, We go to BTT off long point and pech. Nice Eastern European family runs it, they do alterations pretty decently too.

Welcome to the hood.

If you want to last long in these parts there's no quantifier. It's The Dirty Branch and it's all one. Only outsiders try and quantify areas of the DB. For those people LoPo runs both ways.

current residents of the DB - what is your favorite grocery store? I prefer HEB at Gessner/Kempwood

what is your favorite part of DB? I like all the old run down apartments and the various strip malls

For my money it's hard to beat the general area of LoPo around Gess and Witte.

You really have it all:

Cicis Pizza
Burger King
Church's Chicken
El Ahorro Supermarket
Family Dollar
Boost Mobile
Korean Noodle House
That beat up taco truck at the Chevron that always smells so marvelous
Roostar
Jack in the Box
Mambo Seafood
Multiple Pawn Shops
Day Laborers
Haden Park
Bori
Pollo Bravo
Advance Auto Parts
Meineke Car Care
Super Star Hair Salon
Beautiful Hair Solon

I can keep going but you get the gist.

If you'd like to wet your whistle with a nice stroll there's Blue Lagoon. Hopefully they have the hot dogs out so you can get a free snack.

You can really just make a whole afternoon of that general area. If there's a better place in the ENTIRE Houston Metropolitan area I haven't seen it.

Pretty sure it never closed if you knew the secret knock on the back door. My guess is it's now a fully functioning "restaurant" and open but haven't been that way in a while.

On a similar note I went to KiH last Thursday to watch Game 5. It was completely packed. Love they just put a bucket of chips on your table and ask what you want to drink. First time I'd been there and it's really nice. It's going to do really well.

Anybody have a recommendation for a reasonably priced area painter to do odd jobs (back door, garden bench, kid's furniture)? I could DIY, but I hate painting.

Since were looking for recommendations, anyone have a general yard/landscaping person they recommend? I'd go the home depot route but i'd like to be able to call/text someone when projects popup.

I've used Ramiro Sanchez (832.731.0892) at two different houses over the last ten years. Does a great design, has good ideas and uses very good plants.May not be the cheapest, but is reasonable. I also used Danilo Morales (832.867.1928) when I needed to find someone a little cheaper for a project and he did good.He had a good price for routine mowing also. Both guys are professional and reliable. I found a lot of people wouldn't show up or provide follow up.

Am I wrong or is it weird to still be raising funds this late into your business plan? I feel like we've been hearing about this place for most of 2020.
