Oh they absolutely bought the brand history, of a company that shut down after WWI and the fall of the Austro-Hungarian empire. That said, the CEO/owner is also Austrian and has an interesting art/design background.
As to the "looks like a Seiko" I can't say I agree with that at all having seen and worn it in person. Fit and finish is top notch, and the rotating inner dial ring with the date display isn't going to be found on a cheap watch. Seiko's don't look like this either:
All of that said, its not a piece to impress anyone other than yourself or people who notice and value interesting and unique watches beyond the mass produced big brands.
