Still the champs for a few more days... lol

this for sure. Was in NYC recently and the stalls along canal street all had a full stock of inventory including all of the really sought after stainless steel models. Picked up a Rollex, a Roleck's, and a Pepsi GNT-ii for CHEAP.Irish 2.0 said:
Don't go buying those luxury watches just yet…

I realize most in this thread are living in a bubble, but yes, prices are going to drop because our economic outlook is dog**** until at least 2024 for anyone paying attention.jh0400 said:
At this point I'm convinced the crypto bros were buying everything with any amount of perceived scarcity to try and flip it. I expect watches to be the first shoe to drop. A lot of walk always for new car reservations will follow. There will be deals to be had in the coming months.
I've always hated buying "new no warranty" grey market because it feels like getting half of a watch. I've used the manufacturers warranty on a watch maybe once or twice, but it is nice to have; and to be frank you can normally get a VERY lightly used watch with 90% of its warranty remaining for less than Joma or AuthenticWatches or WatchMaxx etc who sell new watches with no warranty and sometimes books.Diggity said:
I know many don't like Joma, but Black Bay sale going on right now.

hard to pass up as in you like the green and orange? I loved it, then hated it, now love it again. I kind of wish the green was more metallic looking like the hulk dial, but that matte kelly green is unique for sureSea Speed said:
I wish it was any color but orange on the green model. Would be hard to pass up.

Ok, finally getting back from traveling and going to pull the trigger on the CW Trident today in 40mm
what's the board take on green vs blue? I keep going back and forth?sw=2000&sh=2000
I'm like really good at decisions and stuff...
as a self loathing rangers fan, that'll be tough. I guess I'm pulling for the padres now....or philsMarathonAg12 said:zgolfz85 said:

Go with the blue one and put it on your wrist on Wednesday. Go 'Stros
fair enough, you just convinced me to hate green and orange again. I do think the green should've been paired with just the white or black for "AUTOMATIC" and not orange now that I hone in on itSea Speed said:
No, I dislike the orange very much. Wouldn't be able to buy it.
ha, I was flipping through college games a few weekends back and thankfully stumbled upon a special invicta event day on HSN. That was not a wasted hour of my life -- I got to see so many horrendous gaudy watches and hear from invicta collector callers. Was quite the spectacle. I just hope and pray none of these people live around me.MarathonAg12 said:
Are you more of a gold guy?
yeah I don't view them as homage either. I view them as an up and coming microbrand and one where the quality level and materials is on par with watches triple the cost. I think for a lot of people in that price range, it's would you rather go with a brand like Omega or Oris, Tag, etc. and get a low end of the line watch in their portfolio, or pay same price and get a premium watch from CW. For me, it's probably going to be both. I just have too many "lower end" fine watches I'm keen on at the moment. This CW is a no brainer, especially with the pound down and promo code.schmendeler said:
They have some styling cues from other brands but imo they don't have anything that i would call an homage watch. (maybe the Aquitaine could qualify?)

I see Invicta and Spirit Airlines went with the same color scheme. Makes sense with thy overlapping customer demo.
I personally like Steinhart, but view them as a tier below CW. For me, I've been watching CW for years and liked a lot of their stuff, but never felt compelled to buy until they relaunched the Trident. To pack all that into such a thin case is impressive. And, to get rid of that awful 9 o clock "Christopher Ward" written out logo was enough for me.TP Ag '87 said:
Whereas a Steinhart, for example, even with a Swiss movement but built in Germany, due to some of it's clear homage designs, is viewed far less favorably?

They built a good reputation in the UK as being British designed, stand behind the product, and fairly transparent about their pricing. Good case study in value proposition and online presence/marketing to the English speaking world. I still want the original bronze trident.TP Ag '87 said:
Not meant to be argumentative or a smart ass but why is CW not viewed as harshly as "homage" brands? I get that they are Swiss made, but what makes them "unique?"
I like them and am considering getting one, but curious as to the thinking in this regard.
