I use my watch a lot for the ground sequence (preflight, engine start, etc) to make sure we're on time for all that
And then a ton for low levels and airdrop. It's a good sanity check or way to keep track while the copilot is screwing around with the mission computer. Timing tolerance for a lot of that is +\- a minute so I rarely care what hour it is.
ETA iPads are mostly for tech orders, flight manuals and instrument approaches and we're Gucci enough to have mounts on the wall not a leg strap haha
Guess its what your flying or maybe how many years you got under your belt.
My buddy is an AFSOC pilot flying the recon planes a few years ago and showing me his.
Thats pretty cool you get functionality out of an analog watch up there. For Infantry guys, ill take a Foretrex 401 and a Casio G-Shock. Anything luxury would get scratched or beat to hell lol
