Have gotten the rid of the majority of my Rolexes and now rocking with Glashutte, Bucherer, and Breitling.
The seaq is awesome and better than a sub in my opinion, really like the nylon deployment strap.

I love GO and they certainly aren't cheap. But I don't think they are overpriced for what you get. That said, it depends on whether or not you value finishing. Their dials are second to none and they have in-house movements with extremely good finishing, and case finishing is superb.
The price for the smaller SeaQ is in line with a Submariner and the Panorama date version is about $2k more. IMO, the smaller version isn't worth it because it has a closed caseback so you don't get to enjoy the movement which is leagues above the Rolex. The case finishing and dial is substantially better than on the Submariner. Specs aren't quite as good, but I'm not going diving at 2-300M. Either will work fine in my pool.
But the extra 2k for the Panorama date is absolutely worth the premium from a watchmaking perspective. It comes with the sapphire caseback/and the Panorama date. Interesting fact, the Panorama date by GO is in-line - both date wheels are at the exact same level. Even A. Lange & Sohne doesn't have that with their big date options.
There's no right or wrong answer on value, its really depends on the individual and what they are looking for in a watch.

Interesting. I do appreciate a gorgeous movement.
I chose Glashutte because I tend to lean toward something different that you don't see every day. Too many Rolex's out there for me to follow suit.
Also, the finishing of the dial and the entire watch is absolutely gorgeous, they produce top notch in-house movements w/ some unique complications as mentioned above. And I love the story of the town's watchmaking industry dying and then coming back to life with A. Lange, GO, and now Nomos and maybe a few others.

The Sea Q is legit. I was inches away from buying one in vegas after a good night on the tables. I love the blue dial but all are really cool!
It's amazing how much of a savant you turn into when you fall down the watch rabbit hole. Try explaining to one of your sane non watch addicted friends that it's okay that you paid $12k for a watch because "look at how both the numbers move at the same time when the date changes"

Yeah, my old boss picked one up in Iraq for $300. Mohammad was his AD right outside the base. You know for what it's worth, those clones are amazing these days.

Unfortunately, you aren't going to find an Omega or Tudor for that amount. Name brands, you can look at Longines or Christopher Ward at that price level. Both quality watches.
If you don't mind stepping out of the mainstream brands, Dietrich is a microbrand that makes some higher-end (for microbrands) watches. This hasn't been released yet, but its a nice looking watch that isn't necessarily derivative of other brands for a little over $1k.
I think its a great looking watch. This is the SD2. I have the SD1 and its good quality and finishing for the price.
Apologies for the size of that. There is also a blue version. Pre-release is May 20th for people who have purchased their watches previously. Not sure when the regular release is.

I like this Glashutte. Being German, I do wonder how it runs once off warranty though.

Just keep the chrono fluid topped up to avoid major issues.

Like most German watches, they are a little chunky and broad sided. But it wears really well on my wrist. I have a 7" wrist and it looks appropriately sized.
