Also a stunner, although the Blue bezel / white gold combo is my favorite in the Sub line.

Here is actual watch

Just watching Tiger's post match interview in the bunkhouse and I'm pretty sure he was wearing this watch. Or something remarkably similar.

Maybe that's why I just sold it
Ha, I bet it is.

I don't want to ruffle any feathers here, but that's all most mid and high end watches are is marketing and branding. A Rolex is a fine product, but there isn't any intrinsic value in the watch to justify the prices other than the fact it's a Rolex. Same can be said of most luxury watches. I'm not saying they're not worth the money, because they certainly are worth whatever people will pay for them. I want one too!
Agree with some of this. From the standpoint of someone who appreciates Rolex, but doesn't wear one, they don't make much sense at these prices other than as an investment. But there are several factors that have to be considered.

First, what do you value in a watch? Toughness, reliability, accuracy, looks, reputation, history, finishing, movement/movement finishing, uniqueness/design aspects, specific features, name brand recognition, investment etc?

And each factor has a different weight in every single persons opinion. So there is no set number on what constitutes value - it varies from person to person.

At the current price point for pretty much any Rolex nowadays, you are paying for the brand recognition and investment aspects, not the quality of the watch. They are a very good watch, highly accurate, reliable and tough. But there are nicer and better watches at those price points. So i do think lumping other luxury watches in with Rolex is not fully accurate. You can and do get more for the same amount of money. There is additional time and cost and value in hand finishing, from having highly decorated/ hand finished movements, in unique designs, better dials, etc. But if those aren't things that interest you, then the additional cost and value associated with those factors won't differentiate it enough to make it worth paying $15k for a Moser Pioneer vs. a Sub for the same amount of money.

I'm sure it's been discussed in the almost 180 pages of this thread but surely I'm not the only one who can't stand gold watches.

Don't care for this one, but the day-date on the president is baller.

Just my personal sense of style but even that doesn't do it for me. No gold, ever.

Had I gone to any other University, I'd have probably never worn any watch other than stainless steel.

But growing up idolizing our gold rings and now owning one that literally never comes off my finger - I feel the best look is incorporating some gold on the other hand (wrist).

This is why I love yellow gold. I wear it on my hand everyday and adding a watch makes it even better.

Not to mention yellow gold has always been classy and never gone out of style.

My Bluesy accents my ring nicely. But all gold is just a bit much. I can't pull of the eastern European mobster.

Fair enough. You may like the oysterflex Daytona. One of these is what I'm trying to obtain next as a keeper

Not a fan of yellow gold either but this I would wear. ALL yellow gold is abhorrent to me but that's just personal taste on my part.

I have some stainless, but this is where I am too. Would like my next watch to incorporate some yellow gold, even if just a bezel, to coordinate with my Aggie ring and wedding band.

Less confident but you will know more. Watch he's wearing is a blue face but with black bezel. So reverse of this. Otherwise, it looks just like it. Rolex make that color combo for this watch?

That second one is dang slick. I need to make a lot more money to belong in this thread. And not have 3 kids in daycare. Of course if I had enough money for a Rolex, 3 kids in daycare would be nothing.

Speaking of…
I want to see this Tudor "Root Beer" in person. Something about the color tone in pictures is throwing me off. But in theory this would be right up my alley for my next addition.

Not the same level as Tudor, but for those interested in a budget friendly root beer, I think this is a nice option.

I really like the yellow gold and the rose gold on oyster flex. I would take either of them. Also on the list for the white gold with meteorite face right now.

Never really liked traditional Breitling watches, but this one caught my eye. Where do you guys stack Breitling compared to other similarly priced watches?

Line started moving so I had to cut my post short. I don't often wear this watch, but all the yellow gold love/hate inspired to break it out today. This was a family member's watch (c/o '68) and he gave it to me as a college graduation gift. It's a 1960s piece with the original movement but a replacement crown and bezel. The bracelet was stippled in the middle section so it's a bit unique (the bezel I got it with was stippled as well before the factory replacement) and its stretched out like crazy.

The watch always makes me think of the old days in Houston where the gold Rolex was the ultimate status symbol for folks in real estate or oil and gas.

That is an awesome graduation gift.

My grandpa bought me a steak when I graduated (and I really appreciated it).
