Imagine someone asks you what time it is and you have to tell them "I don't know" while they're looking at your watch and wondering if you're mental.

Anyone have suggestions on "micro brands" ? I bought this one a couple of years ago because it was really inexpensive and was really well built. However, the damned thing is about 20 minutes fast per day. I like looking at off brand watches, mostly because I'm not yet at the point to justify a 5k plus watch.

For a certain milestone my wife is buying me a watch and I'm really struggling between a sea master and an IWC pilot. I already have a speedmaster. Anything else I should Consider in the 5-7k range?!

It's nothing like the Swiss brands demand-wise, but GS also produces only 3,500 pieces per year (compared to ~1 million for Rolex, for example).

Where are you getting that from? I find this almost impossible to believe.

It depends on what your criteria are - "Top" Luxury Watch Brands is very ambiguous. If you're talking about desirability and mass appeal - then Rolex is #1. But yes, if we're listing watch-making chops then I don't know where they should fall - definitely outside the Top 5 and maybe even outside the Top 10.Serotonin said:Diggity said:

Oh yeah, that ranking is terrible. No way Rolex should be over the next 3, Omega and Grand Seiko way too low, lots of other problems with their rankings.
I love Rolex but you are buying the design and heritage. They are extremely well made but it is a mass market brand that relies much more heavily on automation compared to AP, PP, VC or even others like ALS and GS.
It depends - if we're talking about value/quality/heritage, then I absolutely think several of those belong on a Top 60 list.captkirk said:I own some of these brands and they should not be on a top anything listDiggity said:

Montblanc
Hamilton
Glycine
Tissot
Rado
Louis Vuitton
Corum
Tag Heuer
The top four are right just not in the right order
Lange should be 5
Feel like I've seen some fancier Timex ads that might be trying to fill that void too.Quote:
But with their US origin and their historic ties to our railroads - if they moved back to the US and tried to cut out a market as the premier US luxury watch, couldn't that earn them a niche that's not really being served right now?

All the major carriers have goat carveouts unfortunately.
