One of the things you're going to have to stop yourself from doing is immediately going out and buying a new watch.

You will have what I call "Hugh Grant syndrome", you'll have Elizabeth Hurley on your wrist and you'll be trolling ebay looking for a quickie from a crackhead escort in a parked car.

You'll find infinite reasons "the navitimer is a classic", "I need a real dive watch" "I don't have a blue faced watch", "I can't wear this with a tuxedo".

Oh trust me, I know how this goes. This is just my latest collecting addiction. First it was guitars, then it was suits. Now apparently watches. I'm doing my best to hold back but it's taking a level of will power I know will be exhausted at some point soon.

These "rules" basically say you can wear a watch with a tux as long as no one notices. Rules that mattered a century ago don't necessarily apply today.

the rule seems to have been set for a pretty good reason. You're at an important event, so no need to check the time. You are there for the duration.

We have gotten way too busy in our "modern" lives.

Sometimes you need to know what time you need to leave to relieve the sitter at home. Checking the time isn't something you should take offense to any more unless the person is doing it in an obviously obnoxious way.

Well in keeping with the spirit of the rule I would say that you shouldn't carry a cell phone to a black tie event either. A cell phone is way more distracting and rude than a wrist watch.

I read your question in the voice of the guy in John Wick who equips him lol.

As for the watch, that thing is SLICK! Only thing for me is that I really don't like people's names (Christopher Ward) on watches. I realize that's commonplace but its just one of those things :/

I'm actually heading to a club for a few days next week where you are strongly encouraged to leave your cell phone in your room. And under zero circumstances if you have it with you, can you look at it while in the club. The staff will actually jump your **** if you do it.

Its actually nice to take a break from the world

I'm not sure those are actual Rolex models. Could be wrong but don't look like anything in their current lineup.
