Probably a dumb question, but the ring just inside the month goes to 53 amd I cant for the life of me figure out what it is for.

Trying to figure out how you read the month. It looks like that longer red tipped hand could be pointing to the month, but it looks like it's pointing at the number rather than the month. Though, there's a date window.

The numbers to 53 represent the maximum potential number of weeks in a year based on the ISO date system which accounts for leap years since 365/7=52.14. You read the month based on the longer red dial that is also referencing the week number since the week number is also tied to the month.

Edit: the 53 week thing is one of the quirks that drew me to this, as well as the handwritten type that is the watch designer's personal handwriting, since it's something unique that only German manufacturers or Swiss watch makers would even remotely care about.

This has probably been covered and I'm lucky I got my Milguass in 2018, but can someone give me the reason for the Rolex "shortage" and the reason for the lack of inventory and for the high prices on the secondary market?

Thanks I sussed that out while you were typing it out. Its the only thing that made sense. I saw the 9 in February so just looking at that I thought there's no way the 9th week of the year is in February but obviously it is. Mentally it just doesn't seem like you're that far in to the year in feb haha

Can you get me a sapphire on leather? That metal strap sucks. Impossible to get a good fit.

just had my initial Hal Martin experience. Dropped off my 1981 Rolex to see if they can tune it up and fix a broken band.
