He's the greatest tennis player of all time, and a well respected sportsman. He easily becomes Hublot's most famous ambassador.

Tennis and golf are the main stream sports of the wealthy. Final match seats at Wimbledon is a who's who. And Novak might finish his career as the best Tennis player of all time. They know what they're doing. But ignorance is bliss.

Sure but what does that have to do with their watches? It's the same yesterday as today.

Don't get your shtick. Most of the major watch brands have ambassadors. Carry on playing dumb though.

If anyone is a GovX member, they're having a Seiko sale right now. About 35% off on Prospex models.

Sorry I don't buy watches based on who they pay their advertising money to.

Nobody cares. I'm a fan of Hublot and it's good for the brand.

I used to strongly dislike Hublot and thought of them as a fashion brand.. but I'm really coming around. Some of them are undeniably cool.

Brand awareness 101.

The billions spent by successful brands to lock in the most famous athletes apparently don't work.

Dude probably drives a '91 Lexus with the gold package, but ****s on dudes driving Mercedes as being fanboys.

Anyway enough of the peanut gallery, back to watch talk.

Day 50 of the Rolex wait...hoping I get the call soon. Never imagined I'd be waiting this long for a 41mm datejust or OP.

Tried on an Omega Worldtimer the other day and loved it but it's just too busy for my first nice watch.

The wait continues.

Which one are you wanting?

I'm going on 3 years waiting for a Daytona. I was offered a black one about a month after being on the wait list. Really wanted the white so I told them I would wait... they haven't gotten one in since

41mm bright blue datejust, smooth bezel with jubilee band. Would also take a 41mm bright blue OP but those are harder to come by apparently.

I really want a sub but don't want to pay $5k over retail for gray market or wait years and years, so just decided to go with a Grand Seiko instead. Love it so far.

I really liked some of the IWC pilot offerings but think I'd save money and go with a Sinn or another brand.

I also really liked the Omega speedy sapphire sandwich.

There are so many great options out there right now. They won't have the appreciation of a Rolex so I can't blame anyone for waiting but I want to build and enjoy a watch collection now.

Given your username I'm predicting you'll get the Daytona...next year.

I've gotten the itch bad for an Omega seamaster 300m in 41mm...not sure if I should try and scan the web for a new one somewhere or save some cash on a used. My dilemma with the used is knowing someone else besides me was the one who scuffed it up with the scratches and already made memories with it, if that makes sense.

Makes perfect sense, which is why many folks only buy new. I'm in the buy-used-if-possible camp. Home, current truck, previous truck, last 2 watches, last rifle, last shotgun - all pre-owned. Only big tickets items I've bought new in the last few years are a generator & a few pistols.

If it's a well built mechanical item, it will be reliable & also serviceable if necessary. Once you learn to "appreciate" letting the last guy take the depreciation hit, it becomes a way of life.

only thing is in regards to new/used a 300m brand new on jomasshop can be had for $300 more than used.

or if going quartz one can get a pretty good discount on used....which I may do if I buy a used one

Something a little different today, but one of the best values on the market in my opinion.

This is a farer, which is an English microbrand using sellita movements. This piece was $1,995 and while the movement may be pedestrian the finishing is unrivaled under a watch of $5,000.

They have a knurled design on the sides, an exhibition case back, a combination of brushed and polished edges, and an engraved crown and strap buckle.

I give this a 10/10.

Very nice, I like it.

I've liked a lot of the watches that Farer has put out, definitely fun/unique sport watches with a lot of style.

Indeed, wish the pic hadn't turned out so large or potato-cam like, but that's life.

Here's an excellent article on them from worn & wound

Wife just gave me the go ahead to go get myself a watch. Anyone here rocking an omega seamaster diver? It's currently at the top of the wish list. Prolly heading to the galleria sometime this weekend to try one on!

Which model are you looking at?

First, talk to FTAC2011 here.

Second, ping AJ Ramirez over at Zadok in the Galleria (aj at zadok dot com). I've had a chance to deal with him and he's a really good dude. Very chill, no pressure approach, and you can try on lots of different watches with him and not feel obligated to buy anything.

They have a ton of different brands. You can go in and try some seamasters but it's also fun to check out what other brands have going on while you're in there. They have a great setup.

Thanks! Yes I can order most omega models around 15-20% off. If you can find a better deal elsewhere I won't fault you for taking advantage
