Heck. The more I think about it Tissot may be a great option for what you are looking to accomplish.

The new bronze/green version is awesome too.

I wish bronze would stay like that. Not a fan generally of patina.

There's a couple Longines I like. Like this one.

I love the Legend Diver. I've also been looking at the budget version from Orient.

That Orient is actually pretty sharp. I usually find their stuff good at first glance but then there's something weird when I really look at it.

I agree. The text and branding on some of the their watches is odd at times. I prefer more minimalist.

One the subject of Longines, this is their best IMO:
https://www.longines.com/en-us/watch-the-longines-avigation-bigeye-l2-816-4-53-2

And a non ceramic bezel Hydroconquest Auto can be had gray market for about $900. $1200 ceramic, which are way nicer.

Ceramic the bezels are just way cleaner

Um. YES.
Of all the recommendations so far (thanks), the aesthetics of Longines definitely seems the closest to my style. Saw quite a few on the website I liked.

Blind squirrel- nut.

Now you just need to figure our mechanical (automatic) or battery.

I'm on a mechanical kick right now, but each has pros and cons.

You could also get a Baume & Mercier in that price range.

Is this "Summer Sale" really a sale going on there, or is that a price you can expect to get at any time?
nealan
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Pretty much any time . The "sale" part is probably a couple hundred at most

100%. They're pretty much the largest grey market dealer out there. Keep in mind the watches will be missing some items (normally the manufacturer warranty) and that if you buy a watch with an in-house movement it will be difficult for them to service it correctly if it has a problem

They don't always have what they show on the website.

if it shows "in stock", they've always had it (in my experience).

If it says: "expected "x" weeks", then don't order it if you're on any kind of timeline.

So would there be any advantage to paying $1,400 directly through Longines:
https://www.longines.com/en-us/watch-hydroconquest-l3-742-3-96-7

as opposed to $1,000 through Jomashop?

Or should I try to find some dealer around Houston that might have one in stock?

(And while I'm at it - is this a terrible price to consider throwing one of these in?)

Haha, yes maybe "throw in" was not the appropriate verbiage here...

in this case I would but it from Jomashop. I believe this has a standard movement which they would be able to repair easily.

Give me a shot at winning your business on the datejust. I can source one just like that or similar at a better price

also, just FYI I wouldn't get a Longines two tone or any gold-colored but not actual gold two-tone. Longines does stainless steel pretty well; but their gold colored steel looks pretty cheesy.

You've got it. I'm not in a rush to buy, and would rather work with someone who knows their stuff (and an Ag) than buy online.

Very good to know Joe. That's why ideally I'd like to find a shop to see stuff in person. Just don't know how realistic that is.

Sorry if this has already been addressed but where is the best place in Houston to go where I can try on multiple watches and styles? Omega, and tag's specifically

Curious what the gurus here think.

Looking to get a dive watch most likely omega seamaster or tag aquaracer. I know most here hate tags and omegas seem to get more love but I like the looks of both (although I need to go try them on as evident from my post above) and that my sway me one way or another.

Here's my questions that y'all may be able to give me insight on.

I'm left handed and wear my watch on my left wrist so I obviously want something durable and that will last and not show signs of wear too terribly. I know it's gunna get banged up, dragged on desks etc just from my simple day to day activities that I do considering I'm left handed. Would one of those two watches I mentioned be more durable over the other. I read something about the bezel on the tag is ceramic and the omega is aluminum? Ceramic supppsed to be tougher?

Also would it be a better option for me to get a quartz over automatic simply from the abuse it will get since I do everything with my left hand?

I'm a lefty and wear all my watches on my left wrist. I have never had a problem with any of my mechanical watches.
