How much was that Omega NATO? I would love that for my Speedy Pro.
I want to say ~$200. I don't remember. It is leather on the inside and really forms to your wrist.

Edit: I want to say the one I got was actually a little more. The all nylon ones were cheaper. Probably the ~180 reference below.

It's ~180. I'm thinking about using that on my PO after the rubber band finally gives way.

When are you guys going to get serious and post some REAL watches? The reviews on this speak for themselves.

I don't see much reason to pay for an official Omega NATO when there are plenty of after market companies that make good bands for about 1/4 of the price or less.

I'm a value shopper. I was looking for a watch that both looks nice and keeps time, but I was trying to stay under $100,000. I looked for weeks and was about to give up when I spotted this on Amazon! I got it for only $85,995! That left $14,005 in my budget for an extra strap and a pair of those tricky pins that hold the strap in place.
Things I love about this watch:
- The look. I love a good skull. I love a nice, scaly snake. Together, on a watch, on my arm?! Yeah, baby. I had to have it.
- Design. I've not seen a combination of colors and design work like this since the great Elvis on Black Velvet painting era of the 1970s. You simply can't find art work like this anywhere, unless you are willing to dig to the very bottom of the dentist office goody box.
- Celebrity endorsement. When I saw this on 67 year old Sylvester Stallone, his hair freshly darkened and makeup perfect, I thought - "That's me." Then, in the same photo, I realized the grinning Stallone was clutching the erect shaft of his pen (matches watch, $5,000). Given I'd saved so much purchasing the watch, I was able to toss my Bic.
- Features. Keeps time AND the date (always spot on!)
- Durability. The crown "protects against water ingress". You know if a company uses that many words for "waterproof", its gotta be the best.
- Origin. Made in Italy. Italy is a leader in manufacturing and technology - I buy all my computers, phones, etc from Italy.
- Materials/Value. Note its made with genuine enamel. Enamal - its not just for bathtubs anymore. This watch will hold its value - even during a global uprising of the "have-nots" against the "haves" with their "let them eat cake" grasp of reality and utter inability to see the value of all that is good and decent in the world... But I digress.
- Workmanship. PVD-coated back -- the same coating found on finer snack food bags.
- Automatic. That means it will save you money in the long run. I was paying $15 every two years replacing the battery on my old watch, that's $150 every twenty years, or $15,000 every 200 years. Over time, this watch will pay for itself!
- The ladies. Several have told me how "interesting" the watch is. One says it says a lot about me. Yesterday, one said, "You know, "classy" would be just "cly" without people like you!" Isn't that nice?!

Things I don't like:
- I get confused about what time it is mid-afternoon, unless it's the third of the month.
- No light. At first I was bummed, but as I've been sleeping with the light on so I can gaze at the watch during the night, it's not been a problem.
- Occasionally, I've raked the skin off my forehead wiping my brow with my wrist (not good for the gym!)

BLNR, no question

Explain
I think it's an absolutely beautiful watch, and the blue/black bezel sets it apart from the other masses of black/black ceramic Rolex divers. The GMT is a great watch as well, but looks a bit too traditional for my taste. On the other hand the hulk is awesome, but it's a bit too avant garde for me.
yeah, part of me really wants something a little different. One of my associates wears a black sub that his dad bought him on graduation. I don't begrudge that at all, just kinda don't want to go out and buy the same watch that my youngest associate wears. On the other hand, it's hard not to covet the traditional black Sub.

That's where the BLNR, Hulk, and SD4000 come in, I guess. And I would want to wear it with everything, including my suits (most of the time). Y'all may scoff, but I don't mind it. One day when I get the Patek, the divers will be moved to casual days. ha.

GMT IIc is a bit dressier than the sub. Polished center link

Any recommendations on a blue faced Rolex that has a little bigger face? The sub is a tad small for my wrist and I lean towards more larger faced watches.

The sub is 40mm, so you'd be looking at a completely different style, like the Datejust II (which is only 1mm larger at 41mm) to get the blue face. The Yachtmaster II has a blue ceramic bezel with white face at 44mm, but it'll set you back almost 15k+

The blue dial Yachtmaster is still a 40mm too but a good looking watch.

The blue deep sea is 44mm and may fit your size requirement but it is extremely thick.

Rolex is the wrong brand for larger dial watches...

Yea, I don't really dig the look of that one though

Agree, Breitling or Omega is probably the way to go there, but I already own a Breitling

42mm
Rubber (since so many people like that apparently)
Lower price range,
IWC is pretty respected, but I believe it is an ETA if that matters to you.

Are we just showing cool watches now?

I pulled the trigger on an RGM 222 with a rebuilt Hamilton 923 movement today. I changed the hands from sword style to Breguet style... Should have it in 2 months or so.

Took a couple of crappy pics, but here is my collection.

My two favorites

My Rolexes. I wore the one on the left in my wedding.

These were passed down to me from my Pawpaw.

Awesome. That's pretty close to my ideal collection (without the inherited pieces).

I have the DJ but with diamonds for numbers. Next is either the Sub or Speedy. Patek in the future.

-Vintage Speedy with 321

Why does one need 3 black divers? Is your collection enormous?

I just like them. It consists of a Rolex Submariner, which is the watch that has always popped into my mind when I think of a watch; an Omega Seamaster, which I fell in love with when they released the 2254.50; and a Seiko SKX007, which is probably the best bang for the buck watch out there. I have other watches as well which aren't black divers, but the black divers are just what I really like.

dude you cant tell me you really care about whether a watch has a hacking seconds feature, beats at 28,8k or 21.6k vph, or has a free sprung balance. Ive got watches that are rated for more than 2000 foot dives, and my ears hurt when i have to get my kids pool toys at the bottom of my 7 foot deepend

I don't care who made the movement in my Planet Ocean. I like the watch.
Why do you $4000 like it when you can have a quartz one for a fraction of a fraction of that?

Is it just a status thing?

A lot of the better-known brands hold their value pretty well, so if you buy one you can often sell and get something else or trade if you want to change. You also hear about some world travelers who wear those watches as a safety reserve. If you get in a jam, you could sell a Rolex anywhere in the world to get cash.

Quit eyeing it and buy it. It's a fantastic value. I wear mine on a Zulu strap.
