Haven't posted on the thread yet, but picked up the now discontinued 1861 Speedmaster this weekend. My local AD just had the sapphire sandwich, but wanted the hesalite so ended talking to an AD out in CA. Got a discount of about 22% off retail, so feel pretty good about that.

Sounded like they had a few left, can pass on details if anyone is interested.

Yeah, not sure. They may just be clearing stock since the new ones were announced (in the case of the Speedy). It didn't take a lot - they named the price and that was that. Lower than most grey dealers I was looking at.

I had actually been kicking the idea around about the 1861 sapphire thats a great discount from the ad in California. Talking to mine they were offering about 15% . I guessing no sales tax either being in different state. If you dont mind sharing the ad, I cant pm. Thanks in advance.

Can't PM, but would just call Topper Jewelers in Burlingame, CA.

I spoke to Kit on the phone, but sounded like anyone was authorized to give out that pricing. Of course, YMMV.

I am in OH so didn't have to pay any CA sales tax either. Assuming it would be the same for TX, but not sure.

I think it looks very similar to the Rolex Daytona ceramic, however they are entitled to that since they made the original movements for the Daytona for rolex

That Cartier is really sharp. Even in two tone. I'd prefer one color or the other, though.

Inherited this from my grandpa. He got it when he retired from Schlumberger in 1975. The clasp/band need a little work. Where should I take it? (I tried to search the thread, but got distracted by all the nice watches!)
