I mentioned Starplex (originally called Starfest) earlier ... It was right in that area, on the grounds of EDS, actually. (Near the Benihana back there, off of Forest, I believe.) Went to several concerts there with my folks as a kid.

The Velvet Elvis and Lulu's Bait shack. I remember being there when Lulu's closed down. $20 all you could drink until there was no more. People were taking everything that wasn't bolted down (and some things that were) for souvenirs.

Fat Tuesdays, Monopoly's, Borrowed Money, Dallas Alley when it was new and hip, SUAD (I can't remember the club!), Bowley & Wilson's, Boardwalk Beach Club in the summer and The Lodge or something in the winter.

It sounds like a lot of us are in the same age group. I graduated HS in 1983.

How about Shotgun Sam's on Northwest Highway??

I miss the Log Flume with the tunnel on the final drop, The Cave Ride, Spindletop, Spinnaker, and the Air Racers at Six Flags.

We made the mistake of taking the whole family to Bat Night one year at the old Arlington Stadium. Vowed never to make that mistake again! We went especially to get a bat for my softball playing daughter, never thinking that so many bats could cause so much noise. Wrong!

Did anyone ever go to Judge Roy Bean's?

They actually had a few locations back in the day. I was younger, but I remember they had a miniature train that circled the restaurant, and in the eyes of a 10 year old, the biggest, best dang Chicken Fried Steak ever.

Oh and the place at love Field that had the movie theater, skating rink, skeeball and the yummiest soft serve ice cream was called LLOVE!

I saw The Bad News Bears there and remember it like it was yesterday.
