I forgot about Pennywhistle park. Always heard ads for it but never went.

Spent time at the movie theaters at Prestonwood, Canyon Creek and Belt Line and Coit and another one at Spring Valley and Coit.

Spent quite a bit at Twin Rivers

Forgot about Farrell's Ice Cream.

What about the snow cone place on Coit and Plano Parkway that operated out of a gas station parking lot?

There was a small water park in Garland (not White Water on LBJ, it predated White Water) that the church groups I'd hang out with would go for fun. I'm thinking it was on Jupiter and Forest.

Six Flags before the Warner Brothers stuff started taking over. Six Flags from the 70's and 80's.

I remember going to the drive in on Forest and Central with my parents and falling asleep during the movie and waking up in my bed. I couldn't figure out how I got my bed when I woke up. Then again when you're 4 these things are a mystery.

I also thought the Taco Bueno especially the one off of Campbell and Central had a pretty cool arcade area. It's now Cafe Brazil. Taco Bueno's don't have those any more.

This is the place I posted about earlier ... I don't know if I ever knew the name, but it was a pretty fun place, in an old-school way.

Speaking of Richardson, at the corner of Belt Line and Central was Sun-Rexall Drugs, which is now a party warehouse of some sort ... the large sign is still there, but the glory of that old, musty drug store is long gone.

Does anyone recall the driving range with the gigantic golf ball on a tee that you could aim at? It had a huge hole in it that you could dial in on ... In my mind, it was probably 30-feet tall, but in reality, it may have been much smaller.

Tree Hugger, those were the big three for me. White Water, International Wildlife Park, and Sesame Place. That huge Ford dealership at I-30 and Beltline is where White Water was. I learned to swim there. I remember when they poured concrete in the pipes of the old wave pool, pretty much sealing the deal that it (or something like it) wouldn't make it back.
I think Sesame Place was near the southwest corner of 183 and Beltline, maybe a little further back like closer to Esters (I think I was still in the single digits when it closed). Lowes/Sports Authority/WalMart/second-run movie theater are in that area now.

To the person talking about malls disappearing, don't forget Red Bird. Collin Creek is really struggling. I took a client in there the other day (his request, against my advice). He told me to call the LL after we left and when the LL claimed that the mall was 70% occupied and doing pretty decent sales I laughed at him on the phone. Irving Mall is struggling but Simon is going to work to give it a makeover. Willowbend is also struggling but Taubman (the LL) has too much into it to give it up.

Someone asked where Sesame Place was. I think it was on the southeast corner of 183 and where 161 is now.

Sesame Place was at the corner of Pioneer and Esters, a few blocks west of Beltline and a few blocks south of 183. They had that huge net thing there for a long time after it closed. Finally they replaced it with a movie theater. It basically sat behind where the Wal-Mart is now on 183.

I spent some good times there as a kid.

Anybody happen to remember Firehouse Burgers in Irving on Grauwyler, near Story? It was a little place run by off-duty firefighters, and those were the best burgers ever.

a note about the International Wildlife Park... the trails are still there. Look at a Google Map of the area, and you can still see a few containers out there as well as many of the grown over roads. We used to go off-roading out there in High School!

Seven Seas was where that white hotel (Marriott) near The Temple is now... you can still see one of the stone pavilions on site there!

Now this is really going way back, but does anyone else remember the ice skating rink at Fair Park? I think they used to have the Ice Capades every year there.

Does anyone remember Corps Trip parades in either Dallas or Ft. Worth every fall?

Who went to Nine Acres in Keller?

Does anyone remember the name of the teen dance place in E. Arlington--might have been on Collins. By the dollar theater. I don't think I'd go there in broad daylight these days. It was sketchy even in the 80's. I can't believe my parents thought that was a good idea.

I didn't move to the DFW area until 1994, so I don't have any childhood memories here. However, I remember coming up in college and going to Confetti's, anyone remember that?

Wow, what a great list, although I never did Mom's or 3C (where's that?).

The original Cowhop, I think I had the Chicken-fried Steak Sandwich and fries, with a Coke, for under $2.50, at least 5 times/week.

Never missed Deluxe, actually hated that place. La Taqueria will forever be missed by me, Muy.
