What are some restaurants, shops, etc.. that used to be in DFW that are long gone that you still miss? Here's my list:

Vickery Feed Store (old feed store converted into restaurant)
Boston Sea Party (great all you can eat seafood)
Wee St. Andrews (miniature golf course in Oak Cliff)
Prestonwood Mall (in its prime, the best mall in town!)
Tree Hugger

Arlington Stadium, I basically grew up there.

Even though it was a dump, I enjoyed my youth at the old stadium.... I went to the very first game there in 1972........

deep ellum, Laura Miller killed it. Used to be edgy, but safe. Now it's neither.

Second on Wee St. Andrews. That was a very interesting place. My church group went there a lot when I was a teenager. I also never went to Lou Ann's, but I sure heard plenty about it. And, as ugly as the building was on the outside, I miss the old Baker Hotel. I also miss "street cars". They quit running when I was a child, but I remember going from Oak Cliff, across the tracks on the Trinity River to downtown on them and sometimes we went all the way to Fair Park. They rumbled and grumbled and creaked, but they were much more fun than a regular bus.

Another treat was to go to Lucas B&B Restaurant near Turtle Creek for a really special occasion.

Glad someone else remembered Wee St. Andrews LLA.... when I was a kid, we lived in Richardson, but used to visit my grandmother in Oak Cliff at least once a month.... we always made a point to get in a round of miniature golf.... great times!

I agree with Arlington Stadium. I like the Ballpark and all, but that old stadium was fun, too.

Southern Kitchen on Northwest Highway, Second White Water and Arlington Stadium. Sesame Place was right down the street from me when I was a kid, now it's a crappy dollar theater.

Denton, TX: The Texas Pick-Up (was near Fouts Field and drill fields by the Super Pitt).

Bryan/College Station: Archie Burger (loved those $.39 burgers)... always picked me up five iterations on Sunday evenings when I had to move my car to the Fish lot).

TAMU '88
Law Hall (may it R.I.P.) Ramp 9 Mule

The Putt-Putt that used to be on Beltline east of Josey. I spent many a Saturday there for $1 all you can play back in the day.

And any place with a well-maintained pinball machine. Played a lot of Earthshaker and Police Force in the MSC. Maybe too much.

I never went to Sesame Place ( I remember the commercials), where was it at?

Another vote for White Water and also the International Wildlife Park

Any well-maintained (or any at all really) pinball machine or old arcade cabinets. I'm so sick of Big Buck Hunter, Golden Tee, and the like.

chick: What, no love for Twin Rivers? I owned that place as a kid ... batting cages, miniature golf, arcade. Greatness. In high school, we would sneak in late at night and hit all the loose balls for hours in the cages.

Also:
- Magic Time Machine
- Pistol Pete's Pizza ... best $4 pie you'll ever have
- I can't remember the name of it, but there was another water park in the Richardson/Garland area in the '70s that was pretty cool ...
- Spaghetti Warehouse before the West End, when it was still a bit sketchy
- Farrell's Ice Cream at Valley View Mall
- I'll second Prestonwood Mall -- the ice rink was awesome
- The drive-in at Forest and Central -- I saw many a double-feature there as a youngin'
- Starfest (before it was Starplex then Smirnoff then Yellow Pages dot com or whatever) when it was on the lawn at EDS

I could probably rattle on for hours ...

Phoenix, Twin Rivers was also another great one now gone....

Magic Time Machine is still there (on Belt Line).......

Ferrells' Ice Cream is another great one I forgot about!

Penny Whistle Park closed and the building was turned into a auto parts store and now it is a combo lawn art/smoking wood store. I don't know how they fit rides in that place, everything seems bigger when you're a kid.

Magic Time Machine is still around. Just go to Addison.

Objective Ag: There's still a Galligaskin's in Fort Worth. Come on over!

FW is the land where old stores go to die ... We even have a Captain D's and, until fairly recently, an Andy Granatelli's Tune-Up Masters (which is a beer wench drive-through, now).

Another nod to White Water.

Rock Creek BBQ when it was located on Duncan-Perry Rd next to Johnson Creek.

Forum 303 Mall/Six Flags Mall,Dino's and the movie theatre, all of the business that used to surround Six Flags Mall before it turned into a shiv hole. The arcade at 303 was badazz in the early 80's.

Farrell's was awesome.

Skatin' Place in Irving (actually don't miss it, but it was an old hangout)

Does anybody remember "The Hop" in Fort Worth? My parents talk about it quite often.

The Hop was my Uncle Craig's place... Lots of good pictures of me and my sister hanging in that place.

What is now The Aardvark used to be The Rail, which used to be The Hop.

The other Uncle on my mom's side still owns Zeke's on Camp Bowie.

Did the hop have live music? It's possible that my dad played there from time to time.

I would assume so since the current place does.

Yeah... It was probably one of the premier live music places in the area for local bands... Probably a lot like The Aardvark is now. There was a big picture of Bob Dylan when he was there one night (although I don't think he played --- long before the time I could appreciate any music aside from Seasame Street tunes).

It was about half the size of what The Aardvark now is (if you can believe that).

What was your dad's band name? Despite getting up there in age, my uncle has a pretty good memory and would probably remember the name.

What was the name of the water park that was near Six Flags which had the pirate ship? I think Hurricane Harbor took its place.

Prestonwood is now gone and so is Richardson Square Mall. Wonder how long it will be before several other malls disappear.

My kids miss Pipe Organ Pizza and also Crystal's Pizza place (Now Tupinamba occupies that space).

Richardson Square cratered? It was still open when I moved from the area three years ago. My first job was there, at a hot dog joint completely run by three teenage kids. (The manager was usually drunk or in jail.) We had fun, to say the least.

LLA--Seven Seas!

Bobby Magee's (McGee's?) east of Six Flags--you could get a virgin daquiri in a porcelain bathtub--keeping the bathtub as a souvenir.

I think it became one of the nudie bars east of 360.

edit to add a 2nd to Galligaskins by UTA.

Valley View will probably be next... Macy's and Dillard's just pulled out......

Richardson Square (except for the Sears) was demolished a few months back.... there's now a Super Target, Lowe's and Ross along with the Sears.... no mall left.
