Choc, this thread is not nearly as entertaining as one on the Houston board.... some guy is going to Cancun on Friday, and just found out today that the law has changed and his girlfriend can't go with just her ID and birth certificate - so she's gone downtown to see if she can get a passport pushed through today. We're already on page 3.

You really aren't doing yourself any favors here. We understand that these are a lower resolution than prints you can order. That wasn't what people were commenting on. We're commenting on the HORRIBLE compositions and the fact that a great many of the shots are not level - an action that takes 10-20 seconds per shot to adjust.

At the risk of offending a whole bunch of you, the way I look at it is this - there is a reason that the doctors, lawyers, PHOTOGRAPHERS etc in College Station are in College Station and not Dallas or Houston.

Bad grammar or not I'm still better at this then 80% of Bryan/College Station population. What kind of hypocrite are you since you make it sound like you’ve NEVER spelled anything wrong in your life? Bad grammar makes a lot of people sick including me so sorry for the stomach ache but I'm not perfect, just human.

Let me see if I can translate for doglover since I've seen the pics at UPA. They are very nice, touching, bring a smile to your face-type pictures. The quality seems fine to me. However, I'm not taking sides because 1) I think choc's original post was a little over the top and sounded like a petty reason to publicly blast a small business owner, 2)doglover's posts have been sort of attitude-y for reasons unclear to me, and 3)Sykes lost the film for my kid's Little League team shots years ago, but I haven't had any experience with him since then.

Oh and for those who didn’t understand the comment, you will if you go to those places. If you can’t just ask someone who dose what they see and tell them to pay attention to details.

People ARE commenting on the pictures themselves and they simply aren't impressive.

Do YOU think it's ok for a multitude of shots to be tilted several degrees when that's easy to fix and he had a month to do so?

AgPup my reasons are simple: I’m the "friend" who got choca the GiftC and also the only one who's being attacked on this thread for taking Sykes's side. My attitude goes to those who are making everything possible to piss me off and can't manage to do so.

I do make spelling errors occasionally,which is why I made the comment on you being passionate about this topic. I know my typing goes down the tubes when I get my panties in a wad about something. I'm also not the person with the "bad grammar makes me sic" person, although I do find that sig line to be hilarious! (Wish I'd thought of it).

But if you are trying to get people to agree with your point of view, you really ought to slow down and read what you type. If they can't understand you, they can't agree with you.

Did this statement confuse the hell out of anyone else? I know we're talking about photography and pictures in doctor's offices.. but how does that equate to if "I lived in CS and got really sick, I'd head to the city!!!"?

Confused me, too Elsie. Even if I were diagnosed with cancer, we have the staff and facilities in the Brazos Valley to initiate treatment. Should I require something more intense, it's nice to know that MD Anderson is just down the road. However, for every "illness" I've had in the past 14 years, everything I've needed has been within 10 miles. (I can't say the same about an attack that sent me to the ER where my parents live in East Texas. They suspected appendix and didn't have the facilities. So, I was shipped off to St. Joe's in Houston. Granted, this was in 1995. I'm hoping they've progressed in 12 years.)

I'd hate to be you. I imagine you get ill every time you read one of your own posts. What a terrible predicament.

My brother is a truama surgeon, and when my dad had both his first and second heart attacks (with a stint surgery the first time, and a triple bypass the second time) - he told me that in his opinion, dad got as good, if not better, treatment here at St. Joe's as he could anywhere in the country.

A family friend with a ton of money and a spare-no-expense lifestyle has been treated for cancer at both the Mayo Clinic and MD Anderson at different times in life. Now, fighting cancer again, she rented a duplex here (she lives about 9 hours away) to be near family that could help her and get treatment. Turns out the treatment here is comparable to what she's received elsewhere, only with a more personal touch.

I'm just sayin' we ain't no hillbillys here when it come to doctorin'!

I think Sykes takes horrible pictures because the weird rainy weather made the Aggies play bad so he was mad at Fran, and CSPD gave him a ticket because he was going so slow and was drinking as a minor.

I think the problem, doglover, is that you and your husband came on here and said some pretty nasty things about the OP. Pretty underhanded and sneaky (not to mention a tad creepy) if you ask me. But *great* reading material, on the other hand!

Everyone has different tastes, I guess...but, I personally saw very little quality in the pictures on his website (fully understanding the whole issue of copyrighted photos or whatever). And, after the things I've read here and heard around town (you know how we moms like to gossip), I'll be sticking with my student friend who takes pictures on the side. I pay $40 for a CD full of pictures, she likes kids and she's not rude. Good enough for me.

If you like him, YOU buy his pictures.

And chocoholic...seriously sweetie...find new friends.
