What a marvelous thread! I'm glad someone brought it back to the top. I've loved reading from the beginning and looking at all the old pictures. I recognize many of the names and families mentioned. I currently work on the Riverside campus and hope to have time to make it back to main campus to Cushing Library to see some pictures. Does the HOPE project still exist that was mentioned?

LWink2 and fossil_ag should team up and give a program for TexAgers. I would love to see the photos in person and listen to the history and stories behind them. Bet LWink2 could even arrange a free room at a historic CS location.

Great thread! I remember when the Pavilion had dirt floors, and taking swimming lessons from Andy Anderson in the indoor pool.

My first real sense of losing a piece of history happened when the white frame President's Home by Sbisa burned down. (I was very young.)

Also, my mom happened to be on campus when they tore down Guion Hall. She picked up an ornamental cornice-type thing that I now keep in my office.

Tommy...I am pretty sure the old municipal building is now the children's museum in Downtown Bryan. I could be wrong though.

Did the association use to send out those pictures to all century club members? I acquired one from the late 70's that has the same inscription. I would much rather get that every year than the silly plaque.

A Hot Rod Hill may have been located off of Hwy 21 west in 1953 but for the past 20 someodd years Hot Rod Hill has been located on Marino Road, about two miles east of the Truck Stop located at Hwy 21 east and the East Bypass.

Anymore pictures from the downtown area? Also Hot Rod Hill on Marino Rd. opened in 2000 or 01'
