Most local newsrooms have much smaller staff numbers than a few decades ago. Thus, they pipe in more news that is handed to them from big national stories, because they don't have to film, edit, and write for those stories. They just regurgitate what is handed to them to save $.

It is a downward spiral that continues to erode trust, viewers, and profit.

I have lived here since 1983. KBTX has broadcast LOCAL news since day 1 of my arrival.

Frankly, I would be MUCH happier to return to the "lightly populated" days we had back then. Keep that Austin/Houston big city crap out of here.

Only Rusty and team could report on the Data Center at RELIAS and not identify the developer in Chapter 11, the financial shortfall and impact to date of the default, not identify the plumbing contractor who wasn't paid or really anything else. I probably could have generated that story in another day from Chat GPT.

I would not think that a NDA would be possible once money is spent and construction has started. Not if a public entity is involved.

I had the same thought about not naming the GC when I read the link in the Coming and Going thread.

Watching the video, I saw "Houston Building Company" on the gate signage under project manager. Is that really the name? Too generic to even find a website.

I do not think KBTX "news" actually thought this one through. As you said these types of communications are confidential. This will place KBTX in an awkward situation (potential lawsuit), if this "news" story becomes an issue.

Agree.

But today they struggled when they broke into a "weather emergency" for a tornado warning near Bellville. There was not a tornado on the ground only one possibly capable of producing one. She and the other gal went back and forth with trying to pull up certain radar functions. There were extremely long pauses and awkward silence.....seemed like over one minute a couple of times. It was awful and reminded me of having to call the computer help desk when no one knows what the hell they are doing.

Today, they are so proud of ruining the career of a person who had paid their debt to society 25+ years ago. I'm making no excuse for her crime, mind you, but what wrong has been righted by destroying her career when her crime was paid for in the last century? Just more tabloid type trash.

I remember that case and being shocked that they let her walk. She basically got a slap on the wrist.
