There is no excuse for a health care professional that wants the vaccine or is required to get the vaccine to not have gotten at least one dose. As the first group (1a), they have been eligible since before Christmas. At this point, for whatever reason, they have chosen to not be vaccinated. Their choice.

I thought it was strange and didn't pursue it further. But there have been stories about health care workers saying they won't get vaccinated, and this is regarding people who had not already been infected.

If this person were serious I'd be concerned as this is a major health care unit in BCS. But I also understand not wanting to come out and admit being anti-vaxx for fear of shaming, or freaking out a patient.

Looks like masks will be optional outdoors effective May 28th and optional indoors effective June 28th.

Hmmm...

As a nurse who didn't get the shot, I would just say so and not make up a dumb excuse.

Since vaccine supply is no longer a factor, I have stopped following allocations.

If the website I was following was correct, there hasn't been allocations of J&J since April. And from what I have read, when allocations that they have run out, there won't be any more (at least not in the near future).

Also reading that many sites with the vaccine may not use them before their expiration in August.

With more and more discussion about a third booster possibly needed, how might that likely work? Would it be "on demand" via your PPO? Would you be able to just walk in one of the places in town still offering them and just ask for the jab? Not losing sleep over this, but when I reach the 6 month post 2nd dose mark I'll be interacting with a lot more people in indoor spaces so wouldn't mind the extra protection, IF needed.

The "booster" the media and Pfizer are babbling about is not available and not expected to be for months.. This would be one designed for the much hyped "variants" which the media acts like will kill us all.

I think the media reporting on this is confusing. To me, it seems like Pfizer is going to ask for authorization or approval for a booster (3rd dose) of their current vaccine formulation and, at the same time, be working on a more delta-variant focused vaccine (which will not ready for authorization or approval until the clinical trials are competed).

I think once we get to that point, it will be available the same places as flu shots and other vaccinations.

Antibody levels in the original trial subjects are still looking really good right now though.

Has it been determined that delta is here?

On a positive note, the Moderna vaccine helped with my post covid symptoms. I have less pain when walking. Still not up to running and the weight gain is depressing. Surprised I am gaining weight since food still tastes of nothing or of minerals/dirt - especially meat. BBQ is beyond horrible, which is unfortunate since one side of my family lives for BBQ. The dr says that it may have been because taste/smell is neurological than muscular and that there is a chance that it will not improve. He is also concerned about diabetes - they are now seeing diabetes show up in post covid people, but they do not know why. He went looking for it because of my weight gain. I think it is more of not running and some depression dealing with my life going from fit healthy person to now apparently chronically ill person all of a sudden. I had no reason to think I would get like this. I was led to believe younger, healthy people had little risk. Well, I did not die. I guess that is what was meant by lower risk.

I am sorry for those who are unable to get vaccinated, or those like me who caught it before there was a vaccine. If I had gotten the J&J, I would be looking for a Pfizer or Moderna shot as a booster now, not later. If I had only gotten one shot, I would be getting my second ASAP. You do not want to be living with the post Covid symptoms like me. By the way, my case is not included in the numbers since when I got it, it was too hard for me to get a test and I was too sick to go searching for a test or stand in a line. Those numbers for our county are low, IMHO. If you have Covid, there is a good chance you are not going to go stand in some socially distanced outside line.

According to Sullivan on KBTX last night during their 5 minute virus report, the BCHD assumes it is here, but do not have confirmation of it.

Given its been circulating in the US for months, it likely has been here for some time.
