It's an immune response not a side effect. That's why everyone's is so different.

Wife and I got the second Moderna around noon Friday. Other than a sore arm, no problems so far.

Second Moderna on Wednesday - sore arm, but not as sharp a pain as the first shot. Had a very mild temperature Wednesday afternoon/evening and kind of a whole body tiredness/ache the next day - But, other than that, it's been fine.

As many have stated, reactions are as varied as those that actually had the virus. Personally, no one I know had much of an issue with either dose (About 20 people & mostly Moderna). Mostly sore arm similar to flu shot and maybe a little tired. The youngest person (mid 30's), was the worst with headache bad enough for Tylenol after the 2nd shot for 8 hours. I am really surprised to hear the number of people feeling so poorly. I now feel lucky.

This is an old report (based on the first 14 million doses and 6,994 responses), and it's intended to show adverse events.

https://creakyjoints.org/living-with-arthritis/coronavirus/covid-19-vaccines/covid-19-vaccine-first-month-safety-data/

Quote:

Common Side Effects and Reactions

During this time, nearly 14 million COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered and VAERS received and processed 6,994 reports of adverse events.

  • 6,354 events (90.8%) were classified as nonserious
  • 640 (9.2%) were classified as serious
The most frequently reported symptoms to VAERS were:
  • Headache (22.4%)
  • Fatigue (16.5%)
  • Dizziness (16.5%)
  • Chills (14.9%)
  • Nausea (14.8%)
The most common reactions logged in v-safe (data is for both vaccines, within the first seven days of any vaccine dose) were:

  • Injection site pain (70.9%)
  • Fatigue (33.5%)
  • Headache (29.5%)
  • Muscle ache (22.9%)
  • Chills (11.6%)
  • Fever (11.4%)
  • Injection site swelling (10.8%)
  • Joint pain (10.4%)
  • Nausea (8.9%)
There was a total of 113 deaths reported to VAERS 65 percent of which were among long-term care facility residents but available data did not suggest any causal relationship between COVID-19 vaccination and death. In other words, the deaths are thought to be due to health problems unrelated to the vaccine.

Crazy stuff. Wife and me were expecting the 24 hr issues but nothing. Not even a sore arm. We were joking that we must have received a placebo.

No more shots in cars, you have to go in.

Pfizer CEO saying boosters may be needed after 12 months, and presumably other vaccine makers have similar thoughts.

Assuming this, I'm curious to hear from people in the medical community if there is discussion about how this will be handled. Like going to your PPO, or CVS etc. as with the flu shots?

I took my 18-year-old for her second shot at Walmart on Briarcrest today and the pharmacy staff said they have plenty of open appointments. They're giving the Moderna shots. You can make an appointment online or by calling the pharmacy.

Exactly. Although if there are geographical hot spots associated with not having boosters there may be "hubs" again from time to time. It will be interesting to see the guidance about boosters too... will it be once Moderna (or another) always that vaccine booster ?

I think the no shots might be a bit misleading. Lots of folks got theirs outside the county. I know we haven't reported ours to anyone here so my gang is not counted.

It gets tracked when they enter it into the database. You don't have to report it.

So if I got my vax at in another county, the state has a DB that records it in Brazos #'s?
