The husband and I were at Kroger on Longmire today. He was in charge of loading the baby into the car and I was to return the cart to the cart corral. I put my cart in the corral. It is the only cart in the corral, but there are two shopping carts in the parking space right next to the corral. This parking space is prime as it has a lot of shade. I moved the carts so others would not be inconvenienced by your laziness. Not cool.

You lazy people are ON NOTICE!!!

I applaud y'all for putting the carts up, Jenna! The last person just came on here and *****ed about the carts being there, in the way. Kudos to you for taking action!!!

Good for the OP. You get a blue star for not being a lazy ass!

Not long ago, I saw a lady load things into her SUV and then push the cart behind the car next to her's. As she's getting into her vehicle I walked by and pushed her cart back behind her SUV and said "I caught your cart, it must have gotten away from you." and kept walking.

I don't think she was happy with me.

I try not to get upset when shopping. In general I expect someone to nab the parking spot I had my eye on, park crooked, be parked in front of the door and leave their cart out in the parking lot. I expect the person in front of my to write a check that has to be verified by a busy manager. Someone will have a baby crying, or kids running in the store and my favorite product might be sold out.

Armed with this attitude, if none of those things happen, or only some of them, expectations have been met or exceeded, and I don't get upset. Major in the majors, minor in the minors, and don't sweat the small stuff.

This is one my pet peeves. Came from HEB yesterday and had a cart directly behind my car. Lazy *******s.

You would not need the corals if the carry-outs did their jobs.

Agreed MaroonMommy. And if you have little ones with you and it's just you, nobody should expect you to wheel the cart over to a coral. Safety of the kids comes before carts any day.

It is very possible, easy even, to either a) plan ahead and park very near a corral, or b) quickly put your cart into the corral after you've strapped your kids in in the car. It takes about 10 seconds and I've done it at least 300 times with no physical or mental trauma to my children (that I can directly relate to this action).

My vehicle has been struck twice: once in the Toys R Us lot (which has a vicious slope) and once at PetSmart, where I got to confront the lazy ass because I was still in the car when it happened.

Way to go OP, I can't stand lazy people and I have complained more than once to Kroger about collecting the carts. I believe they are partly to blame because they don't have enough cart corrals.

These are the same people that expect someone to clean up the trash they throw out their car window, the dirty dishes they leave in the sink, and the half-consumed popcorn & soda they leave on the floor in the movie theater.

Pure laziness with no sense of personal responsibility. Next thing you know they'll expect the government to provide their health care, bail them out for buying a bigger house than they can afford, and pay them for not working. . . oh, wait.

I am with you on this one. I have had a car severely damaged by a cart at the grocery store one time. It got picked up by the wind during a storm and slammed into my car and a pretty high speed. Since then, I ALWAYS put my cart in the corral. People who don't do this are--simply put--LAZY!!

I call BS on this one. I regularly shop with two kids, and have since they were babies.

Wheel the cart (with kids still in it) to where it goes and carry the kiddo back to the car. If you have more than one, hold hands while they walk back. My sister in law and I have had this same discussion. She shops with three small children and still manages to put her cart away.

Don't use the kids as an excuse for your own laziness. You can do it and still be safe.

I think this:

"There are 2 types of people in this world:
those who put their carts up & those who don't."

should be posted on the cart corals to shame those who dont put them away.

If I see someone when I pull into the parking lot who is emptying a cart and they have kids or are elderly or even just have problems with the cart, I offer to just use the cart when I go into the store so they don't have to make the trip to the corral or just abandon it in the aisle. I have no problem with doing this and the people I've assisted have never complained.

Nah. Safety of the kids trumps EVERYTHING. If you are in a situation where it's either get the kids in the car safely or walk a quarter mile to put the cart in a corral, just leave the cart somewhere. The life of a child is never worth putting up a cart.

A quarter mile? Life of a child?

Dramatic much?

I have handled multiple children safely and put the cart back and also taken a cart from a mom that was unloading so she wouldn't have to do it.

These cart-leavers are the same people that will block traffic in the parking lot so they can wait three minutes for someone to unload, put their kids in, put the cart up, get in the SUV, start it, adjust the a/c, start the DVD so the little people can be constantly entertained for the ten minute drive home, then finally back out. All so they can avoid walking an extra 40 feet even though most Americans need to walk an extra 40 feet about 100 times per day.

It's worth any "drama," Rock, if it saves the life of a child. When I've got the kids, I don't give a rip about the cart. Kids are worth so much more than putting a stupid cart back in the corral.

TXElsie has it right.

Also, can the drama. If you need help getting the stuff to car and getting the cart put up properly, ask for help out to the car. Period.

If the kids are strapped in, the ten to fifteen seconds to put the cart away will not result in their deaths or injury. (You do have them strapped in don't you?)

What could possibly happen? If your car is hit by another car, I don't think your being in the car would change things. Ever considered that leaving your cart out could endanger someone else's child? A loose cart gets bumped by a truck and runs into a small child and Bobs your uncle. If your kid won't stay in the car for ten seconds, then you have a parenting problem.
techno-ag
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Eh, I don't think it's drama so much as caring for the kids. There are much more important things to worry about when you have little ones with you than getting a cart back to the corral.

Sorry, I'm going to continue to leave the cart wherever when I have the kids with me. If that makes me a bad parent in your eyes, its your problem not mine.

How is your child's safety endangered by having to walk 10-15' to the cart corral? If you're so concerned, park closer to the cart corral. I park at the back of lots where there normally aren't any corrals and still put my cart up because I don't want to damage another's property.

You seem to be the type of person politicians love. I bet "it's for the children" works on you every time.

I was so happy today when I saw a lady put her cart in the corral. Imagine my sorrow when I found that she had deposited a poo-diaper in it before returning it.

I challenge all men to help ladies with children and elderly people, with their groceries, in the parking lot. I don't do it everytime, but at Sams there always seems to be someone that needs help.

Ummm... I have 2 kids, and I use an age-old system. Roll the cart by your door. Open the door. Turn on the car, and air(for the meltable kids). Put the kids in the car. Unload your groceries. NOW YOU PUT YOUR ****ING CART UP!! I've never heard of kids being killed in a parking lot, while unloading groceries, but I've seen 2 threads this year about carts not being put up..

You have two options - one by Elsie and one by CharlieMac. Either option works pretty well. You can call your laziness "safety" all you want. You know it's just being lazy.

If you can't make one of those two options work, I feel sorry for you. You have much bigger issues in life than what is being discussed in this forum.

FYI: Carts at the Bryan Lowes become potentially lethal to your car's paint job if left out...that parking lot is so sloped they fly down the hill. I have saved at least two cars from major destruction there.

I take the safety of my child a step further.

I'm so concerned with my little one's safety that I park in the fire lane with the flashers on while we go in and do our shopping!

When I'm done, I push my cart into the middle of the driving lane and then speed off from terrible the death trap commonly referred to as a grocery store parking lot.

And there will soon be two more self-centered adults out there with no common sense when these two kids grow up.
