Did blast and cast for my bachelor party years ago down there. Fished Lower Laguna in the mornings and hunted Loop Farms on the river in the afternoons. Hundreds of birds in each flyover (even after going through the 100 shot gauntlet on the Mexican side). Best time ever.
Now in Arkansas where dove hunting isn't a thing. Should have scheduled a trip back to Mom's in Bell County.

Limit last night and 10 tonight in Mathis. Lots of birds, should have had my limit tonight
Hunted PM yesterday in El Campo. 4 hunters and no birds. Were there 330 to sundown.
Damp and steamy this morning. Birds are late with the fog.
Slow in London the last two days. It would help if I could hit the ones that do fly by. I'm way out of practice.

Suckage. Seems that years of hunting pressure has pushed out the birds. Probably also a lot more acreage in food plots has scattered the birds.

Got 8 yesterday afternoon but had to stop at 5. Bonus of a Boone and Crocket shed horn.
A handful hit the ground for us outside of Freer this morning. It was pleasantly cloudy. Feels like a furnace outside now. Football and cold beer is a strong pull.

Wasnt great but wasn't terrible. Saw birds in spurts all afternoon. Could have had more if my group could shoot straight.

Hamilton County. Got 2 friday evening, 0 Saturday morning, 3 Saturday night, and 1 today. This season opener has been a terrible one

Checking in from Coleman county. Decent shoots for us this year. Better than the last few years. Limits for the shooters in the group.
Looks like you used the same outfit that we did. Best dove hunt I've had in a while.
Interesting dove season this year. Went up to a buddy's place between Woodville and Livingston. Hunted there opening day the last few years. Some years are better than others, but we always end up shooting some birds. Killed 50 between 6 of us. That part was pretty normal. When I left to drive home to Beaumont I ran into tropical storm Eduard. White knuckle drive going 40mph(on a 75 mph hwy) in heavy rain and wind. I knew I'd be driving into a tropical storm, but earlier that day it was much weaker. When I left my house in Beaumont at 3 it had barely rained and no winds.
This past weekend I went with a friend and some of his family to Alice, TX to dove hunt. Arrived Friday afternoon and everyone got a limit. Almost all white wings, just a few mourning doves. Saturday morning was slow, well lots of doves, but flying really high. All ended up with 5-7 doves a piece so not terrible. That evening we all finished our limits. Sunday morning was about the same as the day before. Lots of high flyers. I ended up with 5 and pretty similar for the rest of the group. Great trip.

I meant to post these yesterday but the AT&T/Google issue was preventing me.
I shot the black WW Saturday night in El Campo. In fact in the same field that Towns03 posted the picture.
As far as we can tell, its a young white wing covered in black oily sustenance. If rubs off if you try.
I don't think coal dust, but maybe? More like oil spray on a road or something like that. I left it with my buddy Craig who knows a lot of feds and is trying to find someone to send it to.

Interesting, I didn't know that field was split.
More birds than I have ever seen on the private family ranch in Dilley we were invited to. Easy limits morning or evening if you could shoot. Some guys took morning and evening to get it done but 6 guys shot their possession limit over 3 days.
I shot 3 limits plus 4 collard doves with 4 boxes of 28 gauge and had 4 shells left to that last box. A good shoot to remember.
My lil boykin Matty is 10.5 years old and has really slowed down. I thought last year was going to be her last year. I got her one of those lil Milwaukee fans that runs on an 18v battery set and she worked as good this year as she ever has. Made a huge difference for her to be able to cool down in front of that fan.
