This resonates with me

My uncle used to work for a land development company here in Houston and he would write us permission slips to hunt the large tracts of land they owned that were outside the city limits and weren't developed yet.

Killed a lot of birds just 20 min from home.

The guy that ended up next to me had a semi auto 20 gauge. He shot 3 times every time. I think he went through 5 boxes to get his limit.

Was a little damp about 5pm, but then cleared off. Rain stayed away and so did the birds.

Yeah, that's what I was saying. We can finally hunt MD.

Crap. Two of us shot 2.

We wanted the white wing field but it was being held for a corp. hunt last night and they slaughtered them. We were sent to a corn field on the south/east side of 59 and the birds never crossed over to us. It sounded like a war zone on the other side of 59 in the morning.

Where are you hunting in MD?

We had about a 6 to 10 man average. This was the first opening day that I didn't get my limit, but I did put my son and good buddy in the best positions on the flight path on purpose. I scouted a new area I have been watching birds fly over for years. It was interesting to knock some of them down.

Limited again this morning.

I tried telling myself I wouldn't be going this evening. I think I am going.

OH! Sorry, complete brain fart on my part. I saw MD and thought Maryland, lived there years ago. Incredible waterfowl/bird hunting but the politics/rules/regulations there are staggering.

Another 1/2 limit this AM buddy had 10. Still good bird flight.

Limited in 15-20 minutes last night and 45 minutes this morning. McMullen Co

I'm not sure as I've been a guest for the past 4 years.

I heard it was about a grand a shooter. Comes with two night stay in the bunkhouses, 4 hunts (3 if your shoot your limits on each hunt), unlimited skeet, 4 really good home cooked meals. It's a family operation and they are awesome. Well worth it even if I was paying.

And in the 4 years I've been I've only not limited on a hunt 1 time on a morning hunt and went back that evening and got the rest.

Heading South today to hunt in Brownsville along the Rio. Looking forward to another great season.

I just got back from this trip as well! I'm assuming you must work with/for the HVAC outfit if you're in Houston.

Got a limit every day as well myself.

Shot another limit this morning

5 limits in an hour yesterday evening near Brady. Best we've seen in 10+ years

My evening hunt was rained out Wed about an hour before legal shooting time ended. Robbed me of the best chance. I did end up with 4 mourning and 1 eurasian, so not too bad. Cows decided to settle in around me so I avoided a few shots and started packing up when the sprinkling started.

I am hoping the rain will hold off enough today to get a hunt in this evening. I have heard my buddy has tons of birds and I would like a good shoot with lots of action. It has been slow for me, personally, compared to other years.

Are you guys in west tx with all the birds (Abilene, Coleman, etc) shooting white wings? I'm covered up in south tx with mourning dove, but haven't seen a white wing yet. Wondering if they haven't pushed that far south yet with no fronts so far

Everyone hunting close to San Angelo city limits is all white wings, get 15-20 minutes from town like our place and it's all mourning dove.
