The season kicked off this weekend up here in the 806! The ducks are stacked just north of us here. It's been so dry that water is hard to come by, so early season cranes will have to suffice this afternoon!

Good luck to everyone this year! Reports from my buddies up north seem to indicate a pretty good hatch, so hopefully it makes it our way this season!

Got the blind brushed. The river cane will darken after it's been dead a few weeks.

This weather has been crazy. Currently waiting on the third growth of barnyard grass. Feels more like Sept 1st than Halloween.

Havent seen an other than wood duck, since teal season. They should make for a fun youth hunt though.



Somebody forgot to tell the pigs that they cant manipulate this year's millet.

Deer hunting the opener but will be out for second weekend. Hoping the forecasted rain doesn't booger things up too bad.

It's terrible. I feel like we're being cheated out of fall. Still watering the dang yard and picking okra.

Brushed the blind and used a drag today on portions of my hole at Somerville. I had planned to rework this spot this summer but it never dried out. Gave up waiting in august and turned water on a trickle. Ended up THICK with regrowth jap millet, barnyard, two types of sedge, and other unknown grasses.

Anyone have any reports from Baffin or Corpus area? Headed down this weekend. Not super hopeful based on how the weather has been but maybe there's a chance this front will push something down

Before heading up to College Station for the LSU game last Saturday, I took my 2 boys out for youth only weekend down near the coast at Halls Bayou Ranch in Santa Fe. They did some shooting and were able to bag a couple each, but I'd say the ducks were still sparse at best down that way.

Don't sleep on the number of birds that will get pushed around because of the opener. Not saying it will be successful but opener can move the birds around quite a bit. The reports I am hearing are that a ton of BWT are still stacked since we haven't had a front to push them out.

Haven't seen many (hardly any) along oso bay which I drive by frequently. Have not been on a boat in the bays in months though.

It was 95% teal today. Saw a handful of pintail, one spoony, and maybe 3-4 divers. Everything else was BWT or GWT.

Had a really good mixed bag opening weekend, alot of RH's which we normally don't see where were at (inland, not on the water). Hoping to see some pintails. Good luck to you as well!

Headed down to hunt the coast this weekend. My 5 year old has finally said he wants to go so it is going to be an interesting hunt with him and the 9 year old. Just hoping the skeeters aren't as bad as I'm predicting.

Absolutely no ducks around us in the panhandle right now, kind of strange, but the cold front next week should push them in. Geese are starting to show up, and cranes are scattered everywhere. Have one corn field lined up for Sunday morning, hopefully they stay on it!
