His knowledge on here is unmatched. He's most likely the best skier on here as well. He's helped people save a ton of money through discounts; pretty amazing how accommodating he is on that actually, I know I'd grow tired of strangers messaging me for codes and what not far before now. There's also some not so generous old stories related to what seems like an infamous scam he and some kin of his participated in on this site. The scale I'm unsure of, and who's to say if it offsets/undoes the good he's done over the past few years for posters on here.

But after reading his posts for years now he's one of the very very few posters whose username I recognize instantly, even after having to get a new one. This is because he is a hugely arrogant ass, and his disdain for Texans shines through in not so subtle ways pretty quickly. Reminds me of the Shane Gillis racism bit about how you might not be hungry now, but wait until a cheeseburger cuts you off on the highway.

Insulting the guy for his profession was definitely ****ed and reeks of insecurity.

Edit to add:
But I hope he returns. I know I don't feel the need for the internet to just be filled with people I like, and I probably have a few dumb opinions that need to be checked too.

PC has live webcams you can view 24/7, no need to take anyones X post as fact, or fiction. Most major mountains have same. I will say they were pretty bad for the weekend, at least early, but most places are over the holiday weekends.

Locals get it. Thank you friend. A voice of reason that actually knows what they're talking about. I give up. You guys Enjoy it out there. If you're going to NM dont use your own gear if you don't want to be PTEXing both your bases and likely core shot at least one. Enjoy the season. I got other message boards that don't call me a worthless ski shop POS when I spend hours of my time giving people discounts that I'm honestly not supposed to give. I've bent over backwsrds for people on here so to have 10 people Star a post infering I'm a worth less POS loser because of where I work part time, those days are now gone. I've probs spent 500-1000 dollars of my own on shipping alone to people on here because I want I wanted you to have good gear at a price doesn't break the bank. No good deed goes unpunished.

Best of luck guys Enjoy your season and Enjoy finding another loser that's 1000 miles away that doesn't know anyone you but still lets you skip the line, get up grades gear for 1/3 of the price, get you sales at 80% off, let you stay at our house for free, give you comped ski passes, free ski lessons, etc etc etc and genuinely care about your ski experience. Now I'll just be a loser and help other people that seem to appreciate it more. Thats the nice thing about the ski industry - there are more people that need help than I can help so I'm gonna focus on them and not a group that ridicules me for trying to help them. I've never once asked for a dollar in return. Im not in it for the money. I was in it because I cared about you guys and know how much a family can break the bank when it comes to rentals. Any $ I save you is more you can spend on your wife and your kids. Thats what really matters and that's what I've tried to do but obviously I'm an ******* loser that's below most of you because I work I work part time in a ski shop. God forbid people actually work 3 jobs vs wanting a Government hand out.

God bless you guys. If you know me - give me a buzz and in happy to help but I'm done going out of my way for a group that double digit Blue stars a post calling me a dumbass loser.

I hate to say it, but my left pinky toe knows more about skiing than most of you guys will in your life. Thats just the truth. I've ven doing this for almost 40 years. It's Not a hobby It's Not Ohh You You live close to a ski hill. I live it. I breath it. It's my livlihood. It's the same reason If I went to your place of work, I defer to you on most everything if not everything. I'm not an expert at what you do and I'm not trying to be one. So When I tell you something It's not because I'm trying to be an *******. It's because I do this for a living and know what I'm talking about because if I didn't I wouldn't keep My Job because everyone knows skiing here or get paid what I do AND if I was you guys spending thousands or tens of thousands on a vacation where you get to ski once or twice a year I'd you to know whats up. Thats trying to be an advocate, not an *******. If I disagree with you it's because you're looking at it through rose colored glasses and want to be brutally honest about whats the truth. I'm not here to Harsh your mellow on here I'm trying to keep you from going somewhere that's Not going to match the expectation you guys have.

Have you seen the reports out of PC? Thats why I've been telling people not to go during the ski. It's not me or because I hate UT or hate Texans or any other crazy reason you guys think. It's because It's been a **** show. Not for everyone but for alot. Read what the guests have been saying…. For gods sake they had to make an Announcement to Not accost the workers workering because they have nothing to do with the Strike. Guests are that mad. So keeping you out of that ant hill - I think was worth trying to convey and it sounds like some took the advice and are very happy they did it.

Good news on my last post - the Strike should end today once they vote on the new terms. They came to an agreement last night.

Something I learned a long time ago that has really helped me in life is that you'll never make 100% of the people in your life happy and you'll only drive yourself insane trying to do that. Not only that but if you let that 20% effect you then you'll end up pushing away the other 80% due to spite of that 20%.

Lean on the ones that appreciate you and ignore the others. Your life will be much more peaceful.

I haven't taken any offers from you but I do enjoy your posts even if they come off very arrogant. Hope all is well and see you on the Mountain.

PE = loot and scoot.

You can argue on a theoretical level they reallocate poorly used assets and clean up waste in the economy but they often actually just plunder some long term business proposition for short term gains and then exploit various legal loopholes to dump the losses and expenses on someone else.

Stick around. Like what was said above, 4 out of 5 appreciate your info and help. Ignore the rest.

I'd rather have your hard take than one veiled in "it's okay for most skiers". I'm a blue slope-only guy, but you telling it like it is says more about the ski conditions overall.

Here's why i made the initial post that i guess kinda kicked this off: I'm betting a skier like you (and probably 90% of all 1-2 week/yr skiers) and a skier like bayou are looking for completely different experiences. Bluebird day starting in the high 20s warming to low 30s shredding groomers or corn, having a burger and beer on the deck at lunch while getting a sunburn is pretty great, right? Bayou is gonna prefer teens or low 20s with 20 inches of blower getting refreshed all day. Most skiers are gonna be frustrated and seeking out groomers between thawing out in the lodge in those conditions. Different strokes is fine, i just took exception to the "there's no snow, don't even bother" rhetoric and folks acknowledging they are blue groomer skiers, yet still getting worked up and talking about canceling their spring break trip. Ergo...unless you're super gnar and take yourself way too seriously, you can probably find a way to have fun even if there's no fresh natural snow.

What I'm saying is it's way easier and forgiving to Learn in good or average conditions than on rock hard groomers. It's like eating concrete everytime you fall and the Risk of a knee zipper or something moving in a direction far higher. You want to Learn in soft snow that's forgiving. Not ice hard rock solid from t2b with a diagonal of death feeding straight into you.

It's not you thats going to be the issue. It's the dude dropping bombs totally out of control on terrain that isn't ideal that slides out and eats you alive. When you can't move because you don't know how that's terrifying.

If it was me, I'd go to WC. It's a little longer drive but 100% of the hill is open and they have a base that's 2x anywhere in NM. That spreads out the crowds and delays the icing. It's going to be easier to Learn without the entire hill skiing past you.

I've taught ski school on no Snow and in 50+ degree temps. It takes ALOT more effort.

What id really do is go somewhere like Granby Ranch or Ski Cooper and Learn there and then transition to a bigger hill once you know you Enjoy it and have ski legs. Pajarito on a good snow year as one of the best hills to Learn on in the country but that's not this year.

lol what timing.

Pretty much sums up my post from a few days ago. As a person who's worked in PE for my entire career, I saw this coming the moment Ikon came about. And it has ruined (sort of?) my favorite mountain (winter park).

I agree that anyone on here should bypass NM if skiing is the main priority. Leave those hills for the broke college kids. If you're already there for other reasons then go for it. When you only get to ski once or twice a year it'll still be fun. I was trying to plan a cheap ski trip several years ago and was focused on NM. Once I realized it was a short drive further and about the same price for WC or Purgatory, then CO was a no-brainer.

Not directly related to ongoing conversations...but.... I'm heading to Breck in early Feb to meet a couple of Corps buddies. One offered me his "ski with friend" benefit passes on his Ikon Pass. I compared to just buying online through the resort. It saves me $1.36 on a total of $450. $225 per day. That's the discount offered him as an Ikon Pass holder. $0.68 per ski day. That's funny. Pretty rotten really.
Bayou City

Ski with a friend do nothing busy part of the season. It's 18% off the walk up window daily rate. You want a buddy pass and at that point at it's not going to be a huge cut. Breck buddy pass is $182/day.

You're mixing up IKON & Epic.

Whelp... my Christmas ski didn't turn out well.

First yard sale in a long long time.

Was going down a slope that was in the shade, probably going too fast... Found myself airborne after hitting a jump that I didn't see... landed backside hard... still have a bruise on my left butt from over 2 weeks ago. Hit my head on the slope with such force that I was glad I was wearing a helmet. Slid about 50 yards before I stopped.

I never buy rental insurance, but did this time for $3. The guy at the rental place said that they were brand new $1k Volkl skis. Ended up cracking the right ski and demolishing the binding on the left. Garmin said I was at 42 when I hit... so I feel very lucky in multiple ways.

Stay safe out there!

Exciting Winter Upgrades at Pajarito Mountain

Snowmaking Improvements on Spruce
Pajarito's snowmaking capabilities are getting a significant boost this season. We've repaired a critical snowmaking pipe and fixed a water main, meaning more snow in less time! With these enhancements, we'll now deliver 300% more water to the slopes in the same amount of time, ensuring better coverage and faster terrain openings. Snowmaking will help us lay down a solid base early in the season, so you can enjoy more time on the snow.

New Snowcat for Enhanced Grooming

Thanks to the addition of a new snowcat, we're able to enhance our grooming by 50%. This means smoother runs, better corduroy, and an overall improved skiing and riding experience. Our goal is to ensure that our groomed trails are great for ev

(Yes the paragraph ends with "ev" apparently they aren't wasting money on proofreaders)

I'll absolutely take suggestions. What about helmet? Do I need to replace now that it has been in an accident or still okay to wear?

I might have to reconsider my goal every year of skiing my age in mph. Getting more difficult.

Going down at 42 mph is rough! I hit the 40's a couple of times last week on some nice slick groomers early in the morning and each time I told myself, "this would really suck to eat it right now."

Yep. Mixed them up. We go to steamboat every spring break and ski 3 to 4 days. We book our package for lodging and lift tickets and rentals, etc. in August, and get 30% or so off. It's significant. It's getting to a point where if we can guarantee four days of skiing or more in a season, it makes better sense to buy the season pass. It shaves at least a little bit off of each pass, times four people. My daughter went to Winter Park on a young life trip over Christmas if I would've thought ahead, that's included in the same pass as Steamboat and I should have bought her a season pass to discount her tickets. It's really become cost prohibitive for 95% of people.

I used to live in Colorado Springs and would buy a buddy pass with four guys. $250 each got you all season at Breckenridge and Arapahoe basin and Keystone. If you skied more than four days a season, you were making money. Those were the days.

Glad you're OK and have gotten to the painful part of life where it makes sense to buy the insurance. My worst fall of my life was done at 0 mph. I was at crested Butte with a buddy and we were on a double black stopped on the steep face. I attempted a jump, turn and lost my edge. The rest was history. I ended up in some moguls at the bottom of the run. No equipment, including goggles. Snow burns on my forearms as both my jacket sleeves and pants have been pushed up to my shoulders and knees. My buddy thought I had died. I shook, the rest of the day and took it easy.
