Anyone have any recommendations on where to find good floor plans for deer blinds? I want to build one for bow and rifle hunting. Plywood and 2X4s are what I have but would be curious about other materials. Thanks!

The last one we built in 2000 is still standing and in good shape, used hardi plank for the sides and a tin roof with framing done with 2x4's and corners 4x4 posts. The damn thing takes a tractor to move around and stand up it's so heavy! But super sturdy and actually pretty warm with the hardi siding.

Read some of my comments about what I wouldn't have done different. Mainly on the front/back panels. Instead of making the middle 2x2s flush so they could Butt up against each other, I should have made them offset. So I could get a better seal

I've built a few. Just a few simple suggestions. Metal roof and ALL wood should be treated or cedar. Star drive screws.

I for one can't bow hunt out of a strictly rifle built blind unless it is very large, plus the windows are usually not at the right height & I have to use a weird stance to get the proper shot alignment.

IMO do some homework to make a combo stand & don't follow a blueprint for a rifle only design.

I just winged mine.

6x6, door on the back, two Deerview windows on the front and a single longer one on each side. Framing was easy, added the roof after I had it assembled in the field.

I framed and skinned it in my garage, then took it apart into 4 sections, loaded it on the trailer and brought it to my lease. Took about half a day to put back together and get everything lined up. Put the windows in after everything else was all done so I didn't accidentally break them.

Roomier is by far better. I took the time to seal it up tight to keep moisture out, put a couple of coats of paint over the OSB skin to seal it up, including making sure I painted every edge with good heavy coverage. Roof is a OSB deck cut to just outside the walls and then corrugated tin screwed to it. Dry as a bone, stays warm when the heater buddy is fired up, and I can stretch out or pack the kiddos in (and still stretch out).
