So not supporting a discount program for the NRA = bad

Blatantly stealing products from an Aggie founded company = good.

Since everyone is keeping score on boycotts.

Who's stealing?

Not sure if your serious...

Yeti sued RTIC and won for their designs and advertisements. I believe someone posted on here about RTIC basically going to China and buying Yeti's plans from the factory without Yeti consent.

Oh ok...I read your op a different way.

Engel introduced the one-piece roto-molded cooler in 2007. After meeting with Engel at a boating show in Florida, YETI launches their version of the roto-molded cooler in 2008.

Actually, Yeti got their designs from Icey-Tek. IIRC, Yeti did buy the US rights and I believe Icey-Tek was out of the US market for several years- they're based in Australia and actually came up with the rotomolded coolers back in the 90's.

Yeti originally had the Sherpa, the Roughneck, and fiberglass lines rather than the rotomolded.

I think this pdf of the original Yeti coolers is from about 2005 or '06: Old school Yeti designs

I think it's because when we scoffed at the idea of a cooler that costs more than some of the vehicles I've owned, the frat daddies were so quick to explain to us how its actually a good deal. Holds ice all day, bear proof, will last a lifetime - so worth it!

But it was obvious that it only cost that much because it was marketed toward frats and guys that blow on in their fur coats. So when RTIC came out with exactly the same thing at half the cost, we knew most (some?) of the frat tax had been removed. Now people who were actually interested in using a roto molded cooler for things other than fitting in with a crowd could buy one.

Personally, I think they are all too heavy to be of any use. I don't own either brand.

Same way I feel. I had brought some of the Pelican Tailgate rolling coolers into my branch to sell and when we got them I realized those things were almost 50lbs empty and no way would that be feasible for anything. I own basic ass Igloos and they cover me for my needs

I agree with a previous post on the soft sided stuff. Yeti is much higher quality in that category. I also have an RTIC cup where the lid is warped and doesn't fit flush with the cup mouth. This was new out of the box. I was too lazy to ever call about it.

Yeti will never see another dime from me after the bull**** they tried to pull. RTIC is now my go to for my cooler needs
Same. Except for their cups... The RTIC ones are just slightly too big to fit in my F150 cup holders.

Ozark trail FTW. $10 a piece.

These definitely beat rtic for cost... I have one at each of my family's places so I'm never without an insulated cup in case I don't bring my customized one.

Yeti just replaced my Hopper with zero hassle. I filled out a form, sent some pics, and answered a couple questions. Didn't have to show any proof of of purchase. They sent me a shipping slip and a week later I had a brand new Hopper 2. No cost, no trouble.
I'm still a fan.

They didn't steal anything from Yeti. There were several other companies making rotomolded coolers before Yeti.
