I don't mind cats at all. But letting the roam is asking for trouble.

Give the cat to someone who isn't allergic and can bring the cat inside. Arrange visitation.

If there's a tree or fence nearby the cat can get away from the fox. Otherwise... nature.

We have fox out here and I'm pretty sure the guy down the road will shoot them. I don't have proof of that just a hunch.

Personally, i wouldn't shoot a fox, i enjoy seeing them.

"Your" cat, and your is in quotes because if this cat has been roaming the neighborhood it has been more a nuisance than the fox has. It has been killing small lizards, song birds, it has been (if male) spraying everyone's homes, bushes, bbq pits, (if female) it has been wailing outside their windows. It hs been pooping in their yards, sand boxes, and vegetable gardens....

So here's my advise, keep "your" cat in your yard. Leave the fox alone. He is just doing what he is designed to do. The fox is more beneficial to the area environment than your cat has ever been.

If you are allergic to cats. Perhaps you should get a different pet next time.

1. Leave the fox alone, it's in it's habitat.
2. House cats should be.........inside.
3. Allergy meds work.

Perhaps you could trade? Tame the fox & keep it as a pet instead of the cat? They're far more obedient & loyal.

This is basically what I was going to post.

Seems to me, since the cat has likely been eating from the foxes habitat, the only way the food web will work in this case is for the fox to take out the cat, which is currently a competitive predator.

The fox is invading your habitat...so whatever....

1. Buy a leg trap and a metal post, like one for horseshoes.
2. Hammer pole in ground far, attach trap securely.
3. Dig hole big enough so that the trigger will be about an inch below grade.
4. Set trap so it is on a hair trigger, cover trap with grass clippings so it looks flat.
5. Pound a two or three inch hole at a 45 degree angle with the top facing the trap, make it 10 or so inches long.
6. Be careful to not trigger trap
7. Place fishy cat food at the bottom of the hole.
8. Do all this with gloves and if you can spray the area with fox urine or you could pee on it. (be patient, it may take several tries)
9. Get up before sunrise and place several air rifle or pistol pellets in the head.
10. Skin fox in garage and cover pelt with salt.
11. Chop up fox and feed to the cat.
12. Ask neighbors if they have seen the fox because you miss seeing the wonders of nature frolicking in their natural habitat.

Semi serious response. If you feel the need to trap it, euthanize it. They did recently change the regulation slightly to where foxes can legally be relocated after a quarantine period, that being said that was a feel good move and not one supported by wildlife biologists. They have an extremely strong homing sense and are headed back within 24 hours. And since they were under the rabies quarantine for years, that is why they couldn't be relocate period for years (and what I support), relocation is a prime way of spreading disease.

If he's your cat why isn't the cat with you? Does he get an annual checkup from vet? How about shots and worming? If not then he is feral. Good thing the cat doesn't roam in my neighborhood. Off to the pet pound the cat would go. Now you can decide to post bail or let the city decide the cats fate.

Your basic problem here is that the fox is fundamentally cat software running on dog hardware.

So OP has a cat that he's allergic to, but the cat stays with Mom who also happens to be allergic. If you let the fox make a meal out of the "domestic" cat seems to me you have solved your allergy problems. I fail to see why this isn't the optimal solution to the problem.

I'm not so much anti-cat as I am pro-dog but if you've got a cat, keep it indoors. If you can't keep it indoors because of allergies you need to find another home for it. Domestic cats turn feral really quick and as amply discussed are a bad deal.

You've been rightly savaged and are 100% in the wrong here. Either bring the cat indoors permanently or get rid of it.
