I have 15 month old twins and I have done really well keeping the weight off. I would like to trying m body fat though.

I found you just have to be diligent in the schedule. Set time aside and don't miss.

228 lbs this morning

I can't remember the last time I was in the 220's.

No alcohol, a new dog, and a lot of patience seem to be working.

AC, are you working out fasted in the morning? And if so, how does that go?

Yes, I work out at 6 am. I come home, shower, head to work and brew a pot of coffee. It's coffee and water until lunch. I'm doing 14-18 hours fasted every day between dinner and lunch. With keto I'm not that hungry and two meals eliminates an easy 5-600 calories every day, plus the extra four hours or so fasting can't hurt, metabolically speaking.

As for how it goes, it goes fine. I mean, I'm not light headed or anything like that during the workout. My legs and arms often feel like they are in buckets of concrete, but I attribute that to the keto and not having the glycogen stores of a carb-fed person.

It's sometimes uncomfortable, but crossfit is uncomfortable. I feel like the metabolic kick in the ass from working out fasted is worth it. Plus, at that hour, I couldn't wake up, cram some food in me and then go work out with stuff in my stomach. That would be awful. I'd probably puke.

Gotcha. I workout (CF) at 5 am and I'm afraid I might pass out if I didn't eat beforehand. I've never been brave enough to try it.

What are you eating/drinking pre-workout?

My understanding of conventional pre-workout wisdom is a lot of it is caffeine and carbs. That would certainly help performance, but would hinder my goals. I WANT to work out in a glycogen depleted state to burn more fat.

I guess it depends on your goals. If I want to burn fat, working out fasted is beneficial. If I wanted to bulk or build muscle, I'd want to load protein and carbs prior and after working out in specific windows.

At any rate, I'm having more success this year with the keto approach than I have had the last couple years when I tried to count calories and macros and drink shakes ad nauseum.

My success this year is due 100% to not putting **** in my mouth. I haven't changed my crossfit routine for 3 years. All that has changed is what and when I put in my mouth.

I don't do any kind of fasting but I've also never ate anything before a morning workout.

Didn't matter if it was weights or football practice before high school or running now. Really rough workouts I don't usually feel like eating for a few hours anyway.

If you get up early enough, you could try to Bullet prof coffee (Butter and black coffee)

I eat a protein/carb bar that's around 200 calories, plus a serving of Optimum Amino Energy pre-workout.

Our goals are different though. I was just curious on how you feel working out fasted, as I have considered it when wanting to lean up a little more. Most of the time I'm actually trying to gain weight or strength.
CharlieBrown17

Coffee is a no go. Never had a taste for it

I also can't workout in the morning without some food in my stomach. A little protein bar and some Amino acids worked pretty well for me like the gentleman above suggested

In my experience, working out fasted is ideal for burning fat but you will also burn lean muscle mass. When I was single living alone I would do cardio in the morning and weight training at night. That is unrealistic now.

In August I will go back to working out in the morning because I will pick up my son from day care after work. In the past I would make a smoothie before weight training in the morning and breakfast or a shake after. That was when I could leave for work 8-9am now I need to leave at 6 I am not sure. Maybe BACCs during work out and shake after?

Unless someone wants to hire me, pay more, and let me work later hours?

Only lost 2 in the past couple weeks. 10 more to go... I am hoping to be at weight in time for my Ragnar relay the second week of March. Probably won't happen, but I have 30 miles to run and every pound lost makes it easier.

One year ago I was nearing my all time high of 243 and got up to 239. Using intermittent fasting (eating only 6 hours a day but whatever I want,) over the course of 3 months I dropped down to 210. Over the Thanksgiving holidays I ballooned back up to 221, but I'm back on the intermittent fasting and plan to do it all year and so far in 7 weeks I'm down to 208. Goal for the year is to get into the 180's and stay there for at least a month.

I graduated high school at 205, but that 205 looked a lot different than my current 208. I was in a lot better shape back then.

Definitely slowing down on the weight loss, but clocking in this week at 201 Just 11-16 more and then the big issue... maintainence.

Currently 25 hours into this week's fast. Just got a big YETI of ice water. Definitely hungry, but not starving. Will probably crash early, hit the gym in the morning and have a good lunch.

Didn't feel as if I had a great week. Definitely overate on two days (stayed paleo/keto but went way over on calories). Felt crappy at crossfit this morning. Hoping for a better week next week and to see the 220s for the first time since 1993.

Hit 203 mid week but back to 205 yesterday after a weekend of drinking and revelry. Need to stay at it.

Deats when editing it showed your name as Jackalope.

I am gaining weight like crazy. I have put on noticeable mass and made large jumps in strength. I would like that scale number to go down but I like the changes I am seeing in the mirror.

Went on vacation all week, went completely off diet. I am happy with only one pound gain to 238. We walked a lot.

Houston BBQ cook off......great times, not so great for the diet.

Although we did tie for 2nd in brisket (they gave us the 3rd place banner but we had the same score as 2) and 5th overall.

Finally have beat my gout flare up that must've came in from the weight loss. Looking forward to getting active again to really push the next pounds off. Hardly being able to walk the last 2 weeks without serious pain kept me sedentary and not losing any weight.

Dude, me too.

Use to run a lot, but stopped working out about 3 years ago. I'm still skinny, but I'm unhealthy. I need to get back in shape, gain about 10-15 lbs of muscle if possible.

We had a "biggest loser" competition at work this year, starting on 1/3. I am participating, but wasn't really "competing"... HOWEVER, I'm pretty sure I'm going to win. According to my weigh in this morning (I hit 229.5 clothed), I have dropped 13.06% body weight, and over 4% body fat since 1/3.

Last week, I was ahead of second place (skeletor) by 0.9%. I put up a solid 1+% this week, meaning skeletor is going to need a big 2%+ week to catch me.

I'm pretty sure I've got him beat. Nothing is riding on this, but I'm competitive and if I have a chance to win, I want to win. It will be tough. Skeletor walks to work and only eats cigarettes so he is tough to beat. I think he's won this thing every year that we've done it (4+).
