I've been trying to get one with Pathfinder bc he's the last free one I need a win on. Haven't unlocked Caustic bc I'm sitting on my points until the next Legend is revealed / the battle pass drops.

In other news, I've had a frustrating run of second place finishes lately, and they almost all come down to this: When it's down to two squads, we try to push the others before they can reset, but we go too fast and not together. We end up giving them a bunch of 1v1s or even 2v1s and that's not the way to do it.

The Gaming Merchant (great Apex Youtuber) advocates always standing right next to your teammates so that you can shoot the same target simultaneously. Obviously this does turn y'all into one big target and can be a problem if the other team uses explosives, etc., but I think it's closer to being correct than it is to being wrong.

Also learned today on Apex Legends reddit (which I read daily and recommend to everyone) that Mixer, MS's Twitch alternative, has a channel called HypeZone which is like the NFL RedZone for Apex Legends. It continually cuts to games where there are three squads left. You see the resolution, the streamer has a few seconds to sign off, and then they cut to another game that's at three squads. Waaaaaay more entertaining than watching Dr. Disrespect and his fellow pros melt randoms. It sometimes gets stuck on one streamer, but restarting the channel fixes it.

I'm probably going to be playing tonight around 8pm; look for me!

Seriously, it's a great feature that more people should use. And it should be expanded upon! It should be easier to immediately get a list of friends who are looking for more players and for what game (or games).

As it is I'll jump on, send party invites to a friend or two who aren't already in parties of three, and then I'll put up the bat signal in an attempt to fill the group. =D

Yeah, it's just funny. I actually used it a few times to get some things done in Destiny 2 since nobody else on my friends list plays it anymore.

Speaking of playing as a group, SpaceLamb taught me something last night. If you're in a party of two and want to be able to talk to your random, you don't actually have to leave the party (which is what I've been doing). Go to the party, scroll down, and under Party Options (or similar) there is the option to use Game Chat. This is by far the best option for a number of reasons, such as allowing friends to join your party of two if they're interested in playing. You won't be able to speak to them without changing the setting again, but you'll have gotten the pop-up that they joined your party.

I'm down! I play some almost every night right now.

Of all the patches, nerfing the Bangalore's passive speed ability was a must. All the characters can be "annoying" and hard to kill when used correctly... but that POS running away at super speed and popping smoke every time you do a bit of damage is getting really old.

The nerf of the wingman will be nice. I'm tired of hearing people shooting it all the time.

What has been your goto place to drop? I have tended to try to rush the supply shop and grab whatever I can before hopping off and getting killed. That or the back bunker seems to be too far for most to make it

Man - I don't understand the obsession with Bunker. I'll jump in with these randos and they'll CAMP BUNKER. I just feel like it's a crowded spot with little upside. Maybe if you have caustic and run through there and drop some traps.

I like Slum Town / Relay / Skull Town.

Slum Town is great because you've got that balloon to get you to Watchtower south relatively quickly.

I've found that Airbase and Thunderdome are nice because once you are done looting / fighting they both have a large un-named village close that you can quickly keep looting. Airbase has one directly to the south (easily accessible via zip-line) and Thunderdome has one to the east.

But in general I like most drop locations, they are all fun. The only spots I try to avoid dropping are the villages down in the river... no thanks!

Same here, especially about avoiding the river. Dropping there feels like you're gonna get attacked from all sides.

Yep, we typically land on the edge somewhere and work in to avoid the pinch as long as possible.

Now playing solo with randoms, I'm game to drop anywhere. The market is always fun for quick fights.

This probably makes me a bad person, but if my squad of randos seems sketchy, I want to drop reeeeeeal hot. Either we make it out, so we're at least decent, or it's over quickly, and I get new randos.

That said I'm totally cool with playing with randoms, and I will always try to play as a team. I help, I rez, etc.

I can't use a mic but sometimes when I haven't looted a gun yet, I wish there was a callout for "I need ANY gun" so they don't run off looking for a fight.

In the pc version you just mark the empty weapon slot and it announces that you need a weapon.

interesting.... I'll look to see if I can do something similar from the inventory screen.

Well last night was brilliant. Stayed up till around 1:30 playing this stupid game and I have a decently busy Friday in front of me.

I didn't even play well, but got a couple wins and had some laughs.

Got a win and my first 5 kill game last night. Hearing the new character is going to be able to heal himself passively, his ability is he can run 30% faster at the expense of some health, and his super is he can create a launch pad anywhere.

I got back to winning last night. Played with one friend until 10:20 or so, then kept playing with randoms for a while after that. Had a long and crazy endgame where two of the final three squads were inside the market refusing to fight each other while our squad was on the roof. We got a couple care packages in the meantime - I actually passed up a Mastiff because I thought I'd need more range.

The circle got ridiculously small before the other two squads finally went at it with shotguns. Then it tightened again and there was no way to get to the people inside without going through the storm a bit (and it hurts a lot when the circle is that small). Fortunately, our Wraith punched a tunnel, and we followed and took out the last squad. I got the final kill! Feels good.

Just had an 18 kill win with 3513 damage. It's only downhill from here.

So close to that 20 kill badge!

That's pretty damn good! Texags13 and I had a rando last night who wanted to party up for more. After we got a win he got out his mic to explain that two members of the last squad had gold revive shields, which had caused some confusion. We played a few more games and got a second win!

Here's a good topic for discussion: What's everyone's favorite weapon combo? Right now I'm feeling the Hemlock/R-99 combo, although I've been rediscovering the EVA-8 as well. Previously I've said the R-301 Carbine/Spitfire was my ideal load-out.
