Just watched the highlight package on YouTube. Proud of Dan as a fellow Aggie, but jesus that is some moron-grade decision making. It's what I would envision Lane Kiffin doing if he coached in a playoff game.

The worst part is it gives ignorant b**** jemele Hill her talking point back. Sort of. Dan did at least carry them to the CG. But man, he did himself no favors today. Drag your balls off the table for once and play some common sense ball and maybe you're walking out of there with the Lions first trip to the SB. Good lord what a choke. Don't even want to watch the SB now.
Same. Two of my least favorite teams.
49ers cause, I've always hated them. Chiefs cause they're turning into the next Patriots and everything surrounding the chiefs is annoying as **** lately.

I wish onside kicks were like the old version.

There actually is a rule against this, known as "The Marion Barber Rule". Barber was so effective at straight-up punching as a stiff arm that the NFL outlawed it. I mean, a legit right hook on defenders that would flatten them. But you rarely see it called. You also rarely see anyone use it like Barber did it. Partially why he was known as The Barbarian.TaggiesT said:
Dumbest rule in football strikes again! Ball carrier can just punch the defender in the facemask to break a tackle.
But they're not guaranteed. The Kicker missed more XP than anyone in the league and had one FG over 41 yards and it was inside.Ag_07 said:
I get that's how they've played all season but it's the conference championship game and your season is on the line.
You take the points to tie the game. That's the one that was ridiculous.
I thought the same thing and someone countered with 2TD's wins the game...like, what? If you don't score, IT IS OVER.AustinCountyAg said:
imo him even going for it at the end of the game on fourth down was stupid AF. If they didn't convert the fourth down and score the game would've been over. It was a two possession game no matter what. IMO you kick the field goal and take your points and then go for the on side. I get being aggressive, but it completely screwed them yesterday. DUMB
I still can't believe the league still uses the onside kick. The AAF had it right when they went to a one-play, 4th-and-13 from your own 35. That would spice up the end of games so much. I imagine it'll eventually get to that point, but with all the rule changes, the onside kick isn't what it was 20+ years ago.Hubert J. Farnsworth said:
After everything that went wrong, I feel like the worst decision was running the ball and burning that timeout there at the end of the game. That forced the onside kick attempt which is very low percentage.
I think most would agree, except you have to factor in that the FG kicker was on his couch just a month ago for a reason. He's also missed XP's and his long was 41 at an indoor stadium (IIRC).JCA1 said:
I'm sure the analytics do say go for it. But you know who kicks a FG when down by 3 midway through the 4th quarter? Pretty much every other coach in the NFL. In all my years of watching the NFL, I can't recall a single instance where a coach did what Dan did yesterday. Everyone always kicks the FG. Now, maybe they've all been doing it wrong all these years. But it's hard to overlook him going so far against the grain of what every other one of his peers would do. And just saying "but analytics" isn't enough for me to overlook that.

I agree, but that's also why you have coaches in the press box. When **** starts to hit the fan you have guys up in the box who are generally more leveled headed since they are removed from the field and the action. I would've hoped he had someone screaming in his ear to not do the things he was doing.Ag_07 said:
I think it was just an all around bad game by DC and his staff.
I think they were in a good spot at halftime and when things started to turn they panicked and weren't prepared. The quick change in momentum caught them off guard and they were just off their game in general.

Huh? How's that work?
The scoring team just automatically gets that ball with no kickoff?
