For all his many faults, for 33 years we've watched Jerry make deals with players, not one time was there a story about the organization trying to pull some dirty fast one at the last minute. If anything, the organization has had the opposite problem of being too player friendly. You can continue your "whose character is better?" jerkoff session. I don't care who is. I can just see something fairly obvious happened here and it unsprorisingly turns out not to be some Cowboys-pulling-a fast-one that you were freaking out about

Yes, in this case, based on the info we have now, I lend more credence to the Gregory camp than I do the Cowboys. I'm still amazed that our fans continue to believe Jerry handles contracts and player personnel. Does he have a say? Sure, he's the owner. But it's pretty common knowledge that Stephen and Will McClay handle football operations, cap management and personnel.

I don't really pay attention to Fish, but there's lots of info on twitter that contradicts what he says. Fisher is also being accused of carrying water for the Cowboys FO. Werder says that language is not used around the league so what is this CBA thing?

The disagreement is over what would allow Dallas to void guaranteed money, and namely whether a fine vs a suspension is enough to do it. $28 million guaranteed on a 5 year $70 mill deal means all of that guaranteed money is coming in the form of signing bonus and guaranteed salary in the first 1-2 years. They weren't going to be voiding guaranteed money
Sportrac has the contract. $10 million signing bonus upfront, $4 million 2022 salary guaranteed, $14 million 2023 salary guaranteed. The concept that this broke down over Dallas being able to get out of guaranteed money (fine vs suspension) is laughable. You'd have to believe Dallas would be looking to escape a contract they basically just signed. Agent saving face with this story

Yeah, Dallas drafted him, stood by him after multiple suspensions, offered him a huge contract with a ton of guaranteed money, which he agreed to before backing out, but they are the bad guys.

This agent is La'el Collins agent. Another guy the Cowboys went to bat for in drug issues with the league. His story doesn't add up. Oh, and surprise, Collins is a guy the Cowboys are looking to move on from and have offered to let him speak to other teams. Sure there is no agent axe to grind there. And again, this language is only relevant for about 18 months of the deal.

The thing is you see more and more online that Stephen is not liked or respected around the league like Jerry has been. That might be okay while Jerry is around to pull his butt out of the fire, but Jerry isn't going to be around forever.
My first thought was his agent playing games as well. Supposedly Gregory was going a take a slightly less lucrative deal to stay in Dallas as long as we were in the ballpark. Wouldn't surprise me if his agent cooked up some "betrayal" to get him to take the higher offer

The deals are the same and he's going to net less due to taxed in Colorado. This scenario makes no sense to get his client less money....

I would agree that Jerry has flaws and getting too attached to players has been one of those, but the answer isn't to swing the pendulum too far the other direction. It is not good long term that Stephen is not liked or respected around the league. If it were just the fact that Stephen balances out some of Jerry's impulse, I would be all for that.
Where are these "Stephen isn't liked or respected around the league" stories? Other than a guy that didnt get the first offer he wanted (who is 30 and missed 10 games this year btw) and Gregory. Would be curious to see links.
