You serious clark? Not like nick had had alot to deal with. Rick nailed first round picks but that was about it

Absolutely, give me RS over the last few years with BoB any day. jury is still out on Nick, probably won't know what kind of GM he is until year 3-4. Unfortunately Rick still the best GM in Texans short history.

Caserio and culley will be tainted with the suck that will be on the field. Culley will be fired in 2 years. Caserio shortly after.

This is the Texans. I'm betting the leash is at least 3-4 seasons apiece

It's nice to have a real GM just for simply executing a plan. Not sure if it will all work out but BoB seemed like he did whatever suited his ego at any given moment. And you know, good on the coaching staff for keeping their end of the deal with cancelling minicamp.

Yeah, if the Texans have been consistent on one thing, it's committing to coaches/front office personnel. Often to their detriment, but the organization values stability over a rotating door of coaches/front office.

I think Culley will be gone before Caserio. Nick will be here as long as he wants. Culley is just a scapegoat for the suckage that is about to take place. They were talking on the radio the other day about why they didn't hire a guy like EB from the Chiefs and it makes sense. Even he couldn't come in, inherit this crap, and do something with it. No scheme is gonna make Davis Mills and a rag tag bunch of vets on their last legs win football games.

Their best bet is to tank for a few years, keep re-constructing the roster, and then hire the right coach when they are eventually ready to compete. Somehow they will find a way to screw it up though. They always do.

That's an apt read of the current situation. I think there are scenarios where Caserio could get fired, but for the most part he could be a lifer as the GM. He's got a lot of control and the McNairs don't really want to run the franchise.

I'm also one of those hopelessly optimistic types. After watching some of the OTA videos I'm starting to think they could surprise some teams. I actually like Culley's personality and I think they have a decent staff. See? Hopeless.

But what I do think will happen is the Texans will be in a lot of close games because the ball control style of offense, and Tampa 2 defense forcing teams to drive the field. Good teams win close games so that means they probably won't win a lot.

I think there's a strong possibility that Culley will be 1 and done. Let him take the fall while there's little room to start improving, then bring in someone when they at least have some cap space and picks to offer candidates.

One and done for the slow moving Texans would mean it's the worst coaching job ever, there was a serious controversy, or it was always part of the plan. I think they have a good enough coaching staff to not allow for the worst coaching job ever.

hard to believe the Watson trade drama and the Watson massage drama is still going on...with no end in sight for either.

I guess they will both roll on into the regular season...which is less than 3 months away

What is the hope for the average Texan's fan? As a cowboy's fan, I was hoping for losses after Dak went down. I guess you can't go into a season thinking like that but curious.

i think they're working working hard to make sure either there are no average Texans fans left or there is no hope left, so it doesn't matter.

Two years of misery resulting in first round picks. Trading all assets for more picks and starting over.

That's what I want at least.

Dang the young and upcoming head coach gets to play only 16 games missing the chance to set the loss record

Now that is equity

The average fan wants things to smooth over with Deshaun and for the team to win. But realistically, neither of those is going to happen, so hitting reset and rebuilding talent is all we can hope for. Sans Deshaun, this is the least talented roster the Texans have ever had IMO.

Ranking all 32 NFL rosters by talent heading into training camp

Quote:

32. Houston Texans

The Texans are expected to be the worst team in the NFL this season, and it doesn't help that superstar quarterback Deshaun Watson is dealing with off-field issues that have put his year in jeopardy. I'm intrigued to see how Lonnie Johnson Jr. performs at his new position of safety, but the Texans simply didn't do enough on the defensive side of the ball this offseason. They were the third-worst defense in the league last season, and could again be at the bottom of the NFL if the offense takes a step backwards as well.

Here's a visual representation of the 2021 Houston Texans football season.

Michael is playing Cal McNair.
Oscar is playing the fans who've already given up.
The scarecrow is a metaphor of the season itself.

Let's start placing some bets on futility. I'm hopeful for 0-16 but I'm sure they'll blow it and miss out on the #1 pick somehow.

Things to shoot for in 2021:

Worst record: Franchise best is 2-14 in 2005 and 2013.

Crappiest offense: 2002, 213 points scored (13.3 points per game)

Crappiest defense: 2020, 464 points allowed (29 points per game)

Worst point differential: 2005, -171: Scored 260, allowed 431

Worst halftime deficit: 41-0, 2015 vs. Miami

Sucks that Hard Knocks went with the Cowboys. I'd love to see the camera crew filming interactions between Easterby and Watson

A new HC exempts you from being selected.

So does drawing about 20 people. Unless HBO has a death wish, there is literally no reason for them to pick the Texans.

Another fan of equity thinking the Texans only have to play 16
