I love JFF and hope he's the best ever and loved having him on our team. However he looked bad. Real bad. As did the rest of the team. OL is horrible but JFF sucked as bad. All around horrible showing by a bad team.

Stop making excuses for how he played today. He was absolute crap and a lot of that is on him. It was not the defense that threw those INTs. Hell even the commentators were saying you cannot just throw balls up in the air like that. JFF was also throwing high on way too many balls and he made some terrible decisions on the zone read. It's a team sport for sure but the team that was fighting for their playoff lives did not quit on him. That is just stupid to post that.

The only person playing as bad as JFF was everyone else on the team.

This. Not saying he played great, but he really only had 2 or 3 bad plays. He had a couple good throws too. Several more first downs were bruit back by penalties. He was tackled twice on zone read plays before he could even make a decision on who should get the damn ball. And not from the guy he was supposed to be reading. He showed some flashes of Johnny, some flashes of a rookie qb, and no one on that team played well.

Wasn't able to watch it. Were the 2 INT's his fault or catchable balls?

the announcers said those were catchable balls. They said that the receivers need to start hanging on to the balls.

I tend to disagree with a lot of you people. I don't watch a lot of professional ball, but it seemed to me that he simply played like a rookie today. He's got alot of learning to do still. Some of the ints would havebeen avoidedif receivers caught catchable balls. Also, he didn't seem to have a lot of time in the pocket.
what are you talking about. The first pick was an under thrown ball and the second was him just throwing the ball up. Not one receiver dropped a ball and then it was picked

Guess the professional, paid announcers don't know what they're talking about.

Nice to see that at least some of our fanbase can see what was plainly obvious - that Manziel played like absolute sh/t. The game thread is utterly embarrassing and full of Baylorfans-esque posts blaming everything and everybody but Johnny for his performance.

And yes, I realize he didn't get much help from his teammates.

Serious reply is that 1) they often don't and 2) their talking points are frequently dictated.

We can spin it however we want but the numbers don't lie. If it makes anybody feel better then sure you can say the team quit on him but you are just kidding yourselves. Why would a team fighting for their playoff lives quit on their QB's first start?

On his five series in the first half, Manziel went three-and-out three times and threw interceptions on his fourth and fifth possessions. He was 4-of-9 for 22 yards and a 12.0 QB rating going into the halftime break. He ran three times for three yards.

JF didn't play on that stinking defense or that stinking O line..

No qb was gonna play well on that Browns team.

I don't think they quit on him, but the Bengals showed up breathing fire and brought the pain right from the first whistle. The Browns completely wilted on both sides of the ball and didn't come close to matching that intensity.

Did Manziel play like crap and make bad decisions? Absolutely. But playing behind an OL that's intimated before the snap and dominated after it is not a good situation for a rookie making his first start. Facing pressure is tough at any level, but in the NFL, where the size and closing speed of the DL are just stupid, it's insane. You can't expect a rookie making his first start to keep his composure and handle it well.

They were all terrible. JFF was terrible, but he was also down 17-0 before he threw his 2nd pass of the day. Tough spot for a rookie. His worst plays were when he tried to do too much, but hard to blame him for that when down 3 scores all day.

Agree with EDS. Johnny had a bad game but the entire Browns team crapped the bed. That was total domination by the Bengals on both sides of the ball and I have to say that I was very surprised. I thought Cleveland would come together and show up for their last three games.

Pettine and Shanahan are clueless on how to coach Manziel. They are trying to run the same office, that Hoyer was in. Wont work.

Johnny is not, nor ever will be a pocket passer. This will just get him hurt and shorten his career.

JM's best move is to request a trade to a team that utilizes a dual threat qb. Seattle would be a good choice, even if he had to back up Wilson.

Well, the Browns fans already want to trade Manziel. So, there is that.

He played awful. To be honest I don't know how Manziel is gonna be in terms of an NFL QB but he clearly needs to learn from this game and not repeat the same mistakes. If he does that, he can be successful. But, he needs to learn to not panic and force things.

These fans in Cleveland already want to trade him for Mariota. Even the HC Pettine said that after these 3 games they will know if Manziel is their future or not. If not, who knows Manziel might be traded.

Johnny played terrible but he had no help at all from teammates and coaches. The second interception was Johnny being Johnny....trying to make a play he had no businesses trying to make. He could have just ran it for a few yards and the FG would have made it 20-3 going into the half. Instead, I guess he forgot that Mike Evans plays for the Buccaneers and wasn't going to jump up and catch the ball for the Browns.

Manziel wasn't on his game, but there were a few passes that were dropped or where the tight end jumped early on a ball that was thrown in the only place he could throw it. Plus, the play calling in the first few drives for JFF was atrocious.

Johnny might as well flush himself down the toilet rather than play for Cleveland. That ownership and coaching will never have the creativity or ingenuity to utilize his skills. He will be stifled as long as he is there.

The City of Cleveland (the mistake on the lake, as we call it in Denver) and the Cleveland Browns are a dead end street.

PLEASE trade Manziel to someone else, anyone else, as soon as possible.

He was down 17-0 before he had even thrown 3 passes.

That is what you call a coaching fail.

Actually, he hadn't even thrown 2 passes at that point. The only one he threw was a nice play that should have been a 1st down but was dropped.

As I mentioned above, this was a first career start and he was down 3+ scores for almost every throw he made. Most of his bad plays came from trying to do too much, but hard to blame him in that situation.

This game reminded me of the Aggie games where he tried to make up for the lack of a defense with his play. He tried to make plays that he should not have done. Some were rookie mistakes and some were just a hope and a prayer because no one else on the team was doing anything. He should not be judged by this game as no QB could have done much better with the way the other 21 players were playing. Virtually no defense and an offensive line that would make the Aggie D look good if they played each other today. Manziel may or may not pan out as a NFL QB but it would not be fair or accurate to use today's game as a measurement.

JFF just needs a few games to settle in and adjust to the speed of the game. He should already be at this juncture but the Browns are functionally tarded.

The best thing that could have happened for Johnny is if they blame him and trade him.

They won't though.

Cleveland probably should have kept Hoyer as starter, and Friday, put him on IR...and then started JFF.

JFF will win the next couple of games and he'll become a legend in Cleveland.

Prepare yourself.
