How many French are wishing they had gun rights?
Honestly, probably not many.
The ones who would have wanted guns to keep the foreigners out and maintain order, were most likely killed in WWI or WWII.
France had 1.15M killed in WWI and another 200,000 killed in WWII.
French population in 1950 was 41M
French population today ~ 67M. I think it's a safe bet to assume that the 26M increase wasn't organic growth by French men and women.
This is from Wikipedia but Wow!
