The only people that care about the sexual affairs of politicians are those looking to use them to malign said politicians with the ultimate goal of driving them out of office. When it is bad enough that the politicians own party forces them to resign, it is out of political expediency, not some sort of moral/ethical imperative. If it's not, it will be swept under the rug as much as possible. That of course will not stop the vilification within the political opposition's sphere.
It may change a voters opinion of a politicians moral compass, but not so much that they'd be willing to surrender their tiny amount of political power to the opposition out of disgust. That's just human nature and self preservation. Being able to retreat to your preferred echo chamber for confirmation bias that justifies your response only exacerbates the problem.
That may not be a popular take, but it is true across the spectrum as evidenced by historical record.
