Cuba has a more sophisticated security infrastructure and process so Maduro has been using the Cubans as muscle in exchange for heavily discounted oil back to Cuba to keep their commie regime afloat. It was a symbiotic relationship that is now going to further endanger Bermudez in Cuba.

The naval blockade had already shrunk Cuba's daily VZ oil from 100k barrels to 30k barrels based on reports. It could go to zero at this point.

More trustworthy likely vs. native security who likely have extended family/friends suffering at the hands of the regime. Cuba's regime depended massively on Venezuelan oil/cash to survive. And the Iranians/Russians aren't galloping to the rescue, either.

I would say its more about sending a message to China/Russia to gtfo from our hemisphere, if we cared about drugs we would have kept up the ban on poppy production when we occupied Afghanistan since something like 90% of the world's heroin supply came from there.

Trump said Maduro was taken to the USS Iwo Jima, I imagine they took off from there. I think we deployed a carrier group to the region a month ago

He was not the leader. Edmundo Gonzalez was duly elected last year. Maduro usurped power. Maduro was a Threat to Democracy.

Sadly a lot of Leftists and some on the Right would prefer massive suffering of Venezuelans in order to prove some arbitrary point
