This will happen briefly. If I was a grocery store owner, I would buy everything they stock at the 30% discount, and mark it back up to the normal price and stock it on my own shelf. That is a way better margin than most grocery stored get.

But my prediction is that these taxpayer funded discounts will be severely abused by the black-market sellers or something like I described which will cause a reaction that will likely be limits on quantities you can purchase. In other words, rationing, thus fulfilling the second stage of socialist economics.

After that will probably be qualifying purchasers based on criteria like race, geography, or similar thus marginalizing groups of people and furthering the animosity towards the system.

By this time, elections will be affected, another socialist failure confirmed, and the stores will quietly close.

I have a question: How are these city run stores less likely to be carried off wholesale by the hood rats than a normal store?

Is the city actually going to provide better security or something?

And lets say of those 31,000 properties, even half of them get sold because the owner doens't want to pay a wealth tax, what happens in the following years?
