𝕏 has officially changed the Iranian flag emoji
It now shows Iran’s historic Lion and Sun flag instead of the Islamic Republic flag, a symbol of the Iranian monarchy, strength, and ancient heritage used officially until the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

When you think about his efforts to use starlink to connect censored populations to the web and his efforts with killing the censorship on X and the things revealed by DOGE, and of course his efforts with spacex to explore, you really can't overestimate the impact he has had on the world.
Jamming of Starlink terminals began many hours before the internet blackout in Iran, with 30% of uplink and downlink traffic being disrupted in the early hours, rising to 80% by 10 PM local time. This kind of interference has "never been seen...the technology involved was likely…

Other Key Takeaways:
The protests in Iran may have expanded to such an extent that they are challenging Iranian security forces' ability to suppress them. Protesters damaged regime institutions in multiple cities across Iran on January 8 and 9. The Iranian regime may increasingly rely on the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps to suppress the protests as local Law Enforcement Command forces reportedly face bandwidth constraints.
Senior Iranian regime officials reaffirmed their hardline stance on the protests and willingness to sustain the regime's violent crackdown on the protests. The regime has expanded its use of lethal force to crack down on protests beyond western and central Iran.
Israel's January 9 airstrikes may indicate that the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) have had moderate success in disarming Hezbollah south of the Litani River. The pattern of Israel's major strike waves suggests that Israel conducts airstrikes only where it perceives a threat and refrains from large-scale strikes in locations where it deems the LAF has effectively reduced Hezbollah's threat to Israel.
Syrian army and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)-affiliated fighters resumed fighting in Kurdish neighborhoods of Aleppo City on January 9 after some SDF-affiliated fighters and a local Kurdish council rejected the January 8 US-mediated ceasefire.

The European Union has further urged the responsible authorities in the Islamic Republic "to adhere to Iran's international commitments and fully respect the rights to freedom of expression, assembly, and peaceful gathering."
Finally, the European Union "calls for guaranteeing the right to access information, including restoring internet access for all" in Iran.

I do love that they really are burning mosques, and that as with Hamas/others the IRGC etc. have stored weapons beneath/in them.

This wasn't the HMFIC flight, they'd use A340's likely. Odd flight though, apparently went just a bit south to the center of the country (Yazd).
Internet blackout continues, with some starlink jamming even. Protests/riots have only continued to escalate, with several larger cities completely running off security thugs, burning their buses and some police defections, though the Army for now has vowed to defend institutions.

As the ground shifts beneath them, regime insiders are reportedly breaking ranks. "A part of the Iranian dignitaries, particularly from the reformist clan, are starting to defect," Razavi revealed. He noted that President Massoud Pezeshkian is "seeing part of his entourage defect, making contact with foreign services but also with opposition movements."
Razavi was unsparing in his characterization of these officials. "It is a mafia clan," he told Le Figaro. "It is a clan that is involved in large-scale drug trafficking, notably with Colombian, Venezuelan, and Mexican mafias for years. Arms trafficking, prostitution, art trafficking."
Perhaps the most explosive revelation from the interview is the scramble by these officials to secure a safe haven in Europe. Razavi detailed a specific and recent development regarding their exit strategy. "Since precisely 24 hours, several personalities from the reformist clan have requested visas," Razavi stated. "Or at least are attempting, via a Parisian lawyer, to obtain French visas for their families." In a separate interview with the French outlet NRP, he said that president of the Islamic Assembly (parliament) Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, was among them.
When asked why they would target France, Razavi pointed to historical ties. "It is true that for some years these reformists have had very, very good relations with... the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs," he noted, suggesting these officials are trying "to purchase life insurance, of course, by betraying."
He noted that the regime was "trembling," a claimed that the opposition groups including monarchists, centrists, and Kurds were synchronized. "We clearly see a convergence taking place, which is historic after 47 years," he said, noting that these groups are largely "democratic and secular."
