The rapid dispersal of the guests makes sense. Underage drinkers would clam up about the Rwandan genocide rather than have their parents handling MIP expenses.

Indeed. If it went down reasonably close to the way the detective laid it out, it was a rapid end to what appeared to be a long and mostly hidden spiral.

Praying for her family. I cannot imagine.

Yep, crushing. I have been hoping there was at least some type of physical fight or foulplay responsible, and that there would be clear resolution and someone would be brought to justice.

I know in men schizophrenia tends to onset in the early 20's. I'm not sure when bipolar onset's in women, but even in my very limited exposure it can be an absolutely brutal display when an episode kicks off.

Yes. Does it taper off, do the 30's improve things? How is it dealt with since not actually brain damage--or is it?

also, how unbelievably insane it is to me when gorgeous women unalive themselves. I can understand when victims of horrific attacks but have seen many adult actresses and even regular actresses end themselves.

August Ames ended it at 23

Yep...it's easy to see an image like the one below and judge a book by its cover. Crazy to think she could have possibly been in a very bad place when this pic was taken, in desperate need of real mental help.

Although, as discussed, it's possible that this was before she was drunk and some type of switch was flipped in her brain. Who knows

That's nothing to hope for. This is not Singapore and they rarely get justice. (See "insane" released after killing --two cases now in threads). A suicide is extremely sad, but not in the enraging way that an unpunished murder is. It is clear resolution. What is not clear is what brought her to it, and those like her, having such irrational response to a passing moment.

The article below goes in depth a little more about her current state from that day. So tragic.

"Brianna had made suicidal comments previously to friends, back in October of this year," Austin Police Detective Robert Marshall said at a news conference Thursday.

" This continued through the evening of her death, with some self harming actions early in the evening and a text message to another friend indicating the thought of suicide," he added.

As a father of a daughter, as tough as it is to even discuss, i would personally rather hear that my daughter was killed by someone else (intentionally or by accident) than discover that she had been suffering internally to a tremendous degree and mentally unwell, to the point of choosing to leave mommy and daddy behind. I realize everyone is different though. Picking the "better" of those horrible options seems silly to begin with. Either way, the parent is crushed and the pain is unimaginable.

APD says Brianna, who was intoxicated, lost her own phone on Friday after being asked to leave a tailgate party

This part stands out to me as well. A highly attractive girl most likely has to be pretty freaking wasted or unruly and out of control to be asked to leave pretty much anything...especially a college football tailgate party. I bet she was wasted out of her mind.

Regardless, my heart breaks for her mother. She is probably praying it was homicide and that her baby girl did not choose to leave her and everything she knew behind. I cannot imagine and pray that none of us ever have to endure anything like this.

Yep, they exist. I had a friend like this in the 90s. By day she was a wonderful person to be around, and after a couple of drinks she was uncontrollable and trying to screw the closest guy to her. One awful event happened we she was maid of honor at an engagement part for some friends. It was hosted in a home of friends of the bride's parents. She tried to seduce the teenage sons of the hosts. Very ugly situation. Sadly, she died in an alcohol-related car crash that killed her and two innocent people in the other car.

I would just say that no one decides to unalive themselves as a whim in just one moment.

these things are going for months if not years.

I have read that in nearly every case the person when they decide to finally end things is ACTUALLY HAPPY for the first time thinking their pain will come to an end.

it's hard to believe and incredibly tragic that young people can't think things might get better over the next 60 years of medical improvements.

and I think every mentally healthy person thinks:

"what on earth could a hot coed have going on that is so soul crushing they want to kill themself by jumping off a high building?"

at that point it would even seem like overdosing on pills is the way 90% of females choose.

so to choose something so messy is even more insane and extremely rare.

unlike the parents of girls who have been raped and murdered.

either way for the parents it is hard to imagine how to go on.

which is why when everyone says "oh you can't be happy without kids"

well there are plenty of parents on the planet who have dealt with the worst pain imaginable.

And the sad thing here is that in a situation like this good cops aren't going to be interested in writing MIP in this situation. Might get a warning, but it's more than likely gonna slide.

Its not medical improvements. Its improvement in a void they feel in their life. In fact, the prospect of another 60 years may seem nightmarish to them. People need to understand that in these cases, what they are most lacking is a sense of affirmation of who they are as-they-are, not as who can be. A strong sense of purposelessness pervades -- or a different kind, burdens and pressures on them are so great (think of valedictorians) that the only way to unburden seems to be to just put end to self. Now you add this almost demonic "light switch" effect alcohol can have, and that is yet another type of suicidal -- where too much of their willful self-control has been removed so the negative gets full sway. This so-called "bad drunk" needs even more study than already gets, especially among college age girls from what seeing, or the 20s in general.

And sometimes it's almost as if they want people to witness it. Like it sends a message. Possibly out of spite, maybe people doubted what she was going through or how serious she was, whatever. Or maybe they want it to really hurt someone in particular, or a group of people.

When you are in an alcohol induced mental episode, I would imagine that person does not even begin to realize how out of control or unreasonable they are. And then when people start setting boundaries, getting onto them, or kicking them out of parties, they probably feel an irrational sense of "oppression" or like everyone all of a sudden hates them and wishes they were dead. I don't know, I am trying to put myself into the shoes of someone who might be wasted and completely out of their mind mentally.

Is there some filter that prevents us from using the word "kill"?

Also, it is likely that this student, who was a sophomore, was going through a lot more than expected academically. It appears that lofty goals were expected of this young girl, and it is very possible that those dreams and expectations were slowly fading.

Regardless, it is unfortunate that this young girl NEVER received any mental health counselingshame on her friends for not taking more decisive action in helping her. In the past, I have literally walked individuals to the counseling office on campus, sat with them, until they were immediately seen. It is an absolute travesty that at a school like Texas A&M, someone's mental health status can go unnoticed and untreated, which could have most likely avoided a situation like this one.

I mentioned above my friend that died while driving drunk. I was 29 when she died, and I frequently still regret that I did not recognize her problem for what it was and step up to try to help her.

"kill" vs "unalive" -- There was a thread a while back about this. Early social platform content filters and bots would flag "kill" and a few other words for content/policy violations resulting in post deletion or on things like YouTube demonetization and reduced presentation to others by the algorithms that put your content in other users feeds. So you see carry over to places like here where it really doesn't matter.

To your next questions... I do wonder, was she a first generation college student carrying the weight of the whole families expectations and aspirations on her shoulders? Were some grades not lining up to meet those goals? Was a major starting to feel like the families goal and not her own? Or is it the previously hypothesized mental illness?

None of those should be a death sentence.

Marshall said Aguilera had been tailgating at the Austin Rugby Club earlier in the day, where witnesses reported she became intoxicated to the point she was asked to leave. They said she repeatedly dropped her belongings and at one point staggered into a wooded area the same area where officers later found her phone and other items.

Investigators confirmed Aguilera had lost her phone at the tailgate. After returning to the apartment, she borrowed a friend's phone around 12:4312:44 a.m. to call an out-of-town boyfriend. Witnesses said they heard an argument, which phone and text records later confirmed. The call lasted about one minute, roughly two minutes before the 911 call that reported her body.

Could be all of that and more. Maybe a bad break up to break that last straw. Coalescing to a single moment in time where a decision was made while under the influence. A decision that sadly, there is no coming back from and happens nearly every year it feels like.

Hmm. That timeline seems very tight. Guess someone on the ground saw her fall and called 911?

Saw or heard it... That fall would take over 3 seconds.

Y'all realize "unalive" is not a word? It's used on youtube and instagram to bypass their filters for demonetization. You don't have to use it on this site.

It's not just demonetization; you can catch a automatic suspension (or ban if your account has violations in the past) on facebook. People use it so much it just becomes part of the lexicon.

As for this poor girl I feel bad for her family that the entire country now knows this unfortunate picture being painted, but Austin PD was probably feeling so much pressure that they felt the need to make all the details public.

I've been thrown out of a total of 4 bars.
It was all on the same weekend with 2 different friends. We totally deserved all 4.

But as far as getting kicked out of a Rubgy club tailgate.

I can only speak to that from an Australian perspective and no girls are getting kicked out - ever.

On a serious note, earlier in this thread, I saw some discussion about trackers on your kids phones, etc.

For parents (especially of young girls), I highly recommend watching this movie from 2018 called "Searching..." It will scare the ever-living daylights out of you.

Worst pain but also greatest earthly love. Hard to explain because until you have kids, you can't really fathom that love.

Heartbreaking that this young woman didn't get help. It didn't have to be this way.

If he spent less time smoking weed and taking absurdly long quests to White Castle he might have been involved in his daughter's life enough that this could have all been avoided.
