The President may authorize the launch of missiles as part of military operations introduced into hostilities without further Congressional approval so long as those operations remain within the 60-day (plus 30-day withdrawal) window set by the War Powers Resolution. The President must notify Congress within 48 hours of introducing forces and must terminate or withdraw forces within 60 days (or 90 days if safe withdrawal requires)
So, no, not illegal
There is no imminent threat to us though.
Putting a hit on Trump is pretty provocativeTramp96 said:
I love people saying this was an unprovoked attack. Fox News just reviewed a long long list of attacks Iran has committed against the US.
And their own parliament vowed to destroy us with a nuclear weapon.
But yeah, this was totally an unprovoked attack on a sweet little innocent country that didn't do nuffin.

Ok, so we don't ever have to declare war again. We could literally drop a nuclear bomb and wipe out Mexican cuz "prez is CnC".
I learn something new on this board everyday.
Or when Obama bombed Libya?harleyds2 said:

Massie can not like it as much as he wants, but he's dead wrong on the constitutional question.
If he doesn't like a president having that kind of power, he's an effing senator. He should have been working to reform the War Powers Act to curtail this ability.
IHIOGA that he, very clearly, said "1,2,3,4...I declare a THUMB war..." and one of his aides misheard him.Logos Stick said:

The truth of the matter is these people just don't ever want Trump to be successful in anything so they will just make up and say it's unconstitutional they never want him to be victorious and they do not want him having a very, very successful second term because they can see it happening right before their face
