If he wanted to talk to Noem, he should have called her for an appointment.

He wanted to make a scene and he did. Should have been shot or tased! Tired of the leftist idiots in this country!

Hah, seeing full bird colonels pulling guard duty at an ECP was eye-opening to me.

That's what happens when you work at a Corps level army staff HQ. Only so many junior soldiers to pull from.

They let a random man walk into the press room? That is your position? That DHS was unaware of him but let him get what 15ft from the Secretary?
I honestly don't think anything happens if he just stands in the back and waits until things conclude and then conducts himself in a professional manner becoming of a US Senator.

But that would defeat the entire purpose of this act. He knew pushing through security would get him escorted out but not brutally assaulted or killed.

He knew exactly what he was doing and it's troubling that college educated libs are falling for it.
Proving yet again, that education doesn't equate to intelligence.

So yes, if Padilla was a professional, he wouldn't have let it get that far. He would have shown respect. Then he might have received some.

All staged by Padilla and likely Newsom and maybe even Schumer to get the reaction and optics of a Senator getting taken down by security. "Only in Trump's Gestapo AmeriKKKa" and red meat for the nightly news.

Maxine failed in her attempt to breach a federal building and that didn't deliver the optics necessary so Padilla gave it a shot today.

The Dem Party are out of ideas and out of touch. And a bunch of ****ing lunatics.

Your idea of a no name senator is funny. They are 100 U.S. Senators and DHS was unaware of him? Really?
There's no way Noem doesn't know who Senator Alex Padilla is before this incident. Sen. Padilla is the Ranking Member of Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Border Security and Immigration. The members of that committee have direct oversight of the DHS. I'd be willing to bet most people in that room not only knew Sen. Padilla but have talked and interacted with him before.

As a refresher this is what they have Jurisdiction over
Jurisdiction: (1) Immigration, citizenship, and refugee laws; (2) Oversight of the Department of Homeland Security U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the immigration functions of the U.S Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Directorate of Border and Transportation Security; (3) Oversight of the immigration-related functions of the Department of Justice, the Department of State, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement, and the Department of Labor; (4) Oversight of international migration and refugee laws and policy: and (5) Private immigration relief bills.

Dude, come on. I get it, he's on your team, but security likely didn't know who he was and he was aggressively trying to work his way towards a head of state.

HE DID THIS ON PURPOSE FOR THIS VERY REASON. I think he even wore more civilian styled clothing intentionally.

You're one of the brighter liberals...so imagine what the lower IQ liberals are thinking?

His plan worked perfectly.
Oh I don't deny that he was there to make a point and get attention

I don't believe for second that he is some unknown person to everyone in that room. Even if you accept that the federal agents that detained him didn't know who he was, Noem certainly does.

I wasn't there and didn't have her vantage point as this was wuickly unfolding. It clearly h appened very quickly.

But even if she saw everything exactly as it was unfolding and knew immediately who he was and yelled for them to stop, they still handled it as they should have. Senators don't get to just bullrush their way to the front when a head of state is giving a briefing and security is trying to keep people from advancing.

I think this is much more nuanced and "quick" in real time than you guys are thinking.

Who gives a **** who you are? You don't try to barge in and interrupt the press conference. Wait until Noem is finished, and then ask your question. You may get some respect and be the first to ask since you are a senator, but don't try to grandstand and show how much of an ******* you are.

I'll never understand these members of congress who think their positions give them unlimited authority. I think it shows how dumb they are and how little they actually understand their jobs.

When I was stationed on a nuclear boat, an admiral from a surface ship could walk down the brow and he would not be allowed on the boat without being escorted. He may have been an admiral but he did not have the proper clearance to come onboard unescorted. This is not some dick measuring contest. It's how these things work.

Funny related story...

When my dad was on the USS Enterprise, it was stationed in Newport News and he was the Officer on Deck (or is it Officer on Watch?) one night when he got a call from the Marine on guard duty. The Marine told him that a man claiming to be an admiral with no ID was demanding he be allowed onto the ship because "he built the damn thing."

Dad came down and long story short, would not let the admiral on the ship, even though he pretty much knew who he was.

The admiral was none other than Admiral Hyman Rickover, the father of the US nuclear navy, and the guy who literally built the damn ship. But Dad was a Lt JG and was doing everything by the book.

Said he got an attaboy and an ass-chewing at the same time later from his CO. The CO gave him an attaboy for following procedure to the letter, and an ass-chewing because he should have known better that certain rules didn't apply to Rickover.

It's all about optics, and showmanship. Look at me, I'm the State Senator but I'm the victim.

I mean the rioters had to tell folks to use American flags, because they realized the optics of illegals and hamas lovers burning american flags, and police cars, while demanding to be allowed to live in America.

Democrats are out of ideas. So they resort to what they do best, burn, loot, murder.

Your idea of unidentified is comical. He is the Senator in the federal building in the state he represents. You don't think DHS was aware of who he was when he entered the building? Especially when it comes to a Press Briefing in the middle of a week's worth of protests? There is no way yall actually believe this stuff.
So to be clear, are you alleging it is his perogative to interrupt initial remarks of a Cabinet Secretary and hijack a press conference JUST BECAUSE he's a Senator of that state????

Tens of millions of democrats nationwide are now boiling in anger and 100% convinced that this is an act of a totalitarian dictatorship that has shredded the constitution (that they have been trying to shred for decades). This PROVES the false narratives they already believed without a doubt in their minds.

Don't be surprised if this now takes things to a whole new level. I hope not, but we'll see....that's certainly why they did it. I say "they" because I don't believe for a second he was a lone wolf in this dangerous act of political theater.

Did anyone on the committee tackle him?

Yeah. I didn't think so.

It was a security person. And what was Padilla doing that made the security office push him back?
Did yuo know what Padilla looked like before today? I guarantee most folks on this thread did not. And i doubt a random DHS security dude knows it either.

Noem has already said no one knew who he was and that notion is utterly ridiculous.

Texags may know stuff but I doubt anyone here can recited the members of all the senate subcommittees. But when you work for the DHS, I'm fairly sure you would know the Senators that have direct oversight of your entire department.

Sorry, but another Red Herring argument.

Here's the entire press conference. Go to 19:00. Better yet, start from the beginning. But look at her eyes for the 30 seconds before the disturbance begins. They are going from her notes, to left of room, to right of room. Even as the disturbance commences, she stays on point and continues her remarks.

She's in full speech mode. Not, "Oh, there's Senator Padilla! Let's stop and listen to him." mode. No look of recognition crosses her face at all. She sees something going on to the side, and focuses on not being distracted by it but staying consistent through her remarks.

Why is it so hard to admit that Padilla was WAY out of line here?

THAT is a professional doing HER JOB.
