Frankly I'm shocked anyone even looks at the price of eggs when they buy them. Who really cares if they are $5 or $10.
Holy hell, I'll never understand this mentality. Even if I made $300k a year, I would still care. Let alone the average American household salary. Each item adds up, and before you know it, those little $2-3 dollar differences, or in this case you scoffing at a $5 difference, adds up to a few hundred a month on multiple items, a few thousand a year, and could potentially be a few hundred thousand in invested difference in retirement.
oh it's no big deal that eggs are $5 more, bread is $2 more, milk is $2 more, beef is $5 more, insurance if $40 more, etc. Before you know it, again, that's a few hundred a month in costs if you aren't paying attention to what you buy, which translate literally to a few hundred thousand in retirement. Or buying a home when you save that up, etc.
And FWIW, it's not the one time $5 difference in eggs that makes a difference. It's what Eggs represent. If eggs are higher, usually everything is, and that is when it starts to add up.
