Still talking about eggs? What kind of liberal would even start a post about something so stupid.

Smooth- brained commenter's on FB or X have zero grasp how domestic supply was interrupted with Biden's FDA overreacting to bird flu regardless of intentionality. 6 months after inauguration, minimum for poultry products to return to normal.

Just want to clarify that it would be more like 126-140 days for first eggs. 180 would be a reasonable estimate to peak production.

I've been traveling to Europe and Asia for years, and always thought the eggs there even in simple hotels were much better tasting than what I eat here in the States, whether at home, restaurants or hotels. Much darker in color; deeper and richer flavor; just better.

We eat a bunch of eggs and I have always just bought the big 36 count extra large. Probably go through one of those every 7-10 days.

During this recent shortage I bought what HEB had left, which happened to be some brown, organic, pasture-raised eggs. And I don't buy organic anything. I just don't believe the label means much of anything in the US in regards to "health".

As I was cooking them, I noticed right away the color was darker and reminded me of eggs in Europe. I was scrambling them that night so the color difference was a bit diminished after whisking and a splash of milk. They definitely tasted different as well, again reminding me of other countries. But I didn't say a word about it and no one else mentioned it at the time either.

The next night my wife tells me the kids want breakfast for dinner again and wanted to know how I cooked the eggs. We've experimented with dozens of ways to scramble them (milk, sour cream, nothing, very slow cook so they're fluffy, fast cook, etc) so this is just a pretty normal thing for us. But really I hadn't change anything, just straight-up scrambled eggs.

The eggs were 100% absolutely different. Much better in our opinion. Not saying this has anything to do with nutrition or MAHA or whatever, but they are absolutely different from the heb blue carton XLs.

Makes you wonder how many of the same people complaining about the egg prices also complained that the S&P took nearly 2 years to recover from Biden's correction. Or whether they were good with gas prices going up 2 dollars a gallon. If they didn't say anything then, they can just STFU now.

I work in the animal feed industry, poultry feeds have exploded in the last 6-8 weeks. Everyone is putting a couple of chickens in their backyard looking for a way to offset this cost. I have a family of 4 with 2 boys, 18/12, and we devour eggs like crazy. Having a source for them is huge

Ever visited an old school tannery? That's the most revolting odor I've ever encountered. Probably similar in the level of stench as a meat packing facility I would guess (haven't been to or by one of those that I'm aware of).

The only reason I started this thread was to poke the eye of the liberal consortium who was droning on about Trump's failure to reduce the cost of eggs on day 1.

You remember this?

Or this- https://www.yahoo.com/news/democrats-blame-trump-for-soaring-egg-prices--just-like-trump-blamed-biden-can-anyone-actually-fix-the-problem-213416201.html

Or this?

Or this? https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/columnist/2025/01/27/trump-egg-prices-tariffs-bird-flu/77962628007/

I mean, I could post 100 articles and videos and other media by democrats mocking trump for egg prices.

Thats why this was originally posted.

Paper plants are not very nice either.

When I was a commercial appraiser, we put our names in a hat to see who was drawn and had to appraise it.

I lost twice.

We had a rendering plant here in Fort Worth. and had to send mechanics out to work on their lift trucks. Never went out there myself, but that was a dreaded call. funky as hell.

Egg prices and scarcity is still constantly being posted about on Reddit. I bought a dozen this week for 4 dollars and change. I don't think prices where I shop changed enough to be noteworthy.

Think of it like gas prices at the pump. It always takes them longer to lower their prices than increase them. Just give it time, the retailers will slowly adjust them lower.

Rendering plant for the win........if there are still any around. There was one in Nixon, TX back in the 60's and 70's that would gag a maggot in a gut factory

I remember when eggs were $.59 per dozen in the late 50's. At the same time, a coke in a bottle was a nickel. When adjusted for inflation, $1.69 is dirt cheap. Just sayin.
