WOW! Understand that is their money to do what they wish but talk about a velvet hammer there for Trump to use.

Tax it at 20%. Everything else in the US gets taxed. Why not?

If we have to pay property taxes after we buy and own property, they should pay a transfer tax.

American citizens are taxed on everything we do, so should they.

Agree they should be taxed or otherwise restricted but by whom? Not all Western Union transfers. How to do it?

Wonder what the multiplier effect of that $138B would be if it stayed in the US economy?

This actually pisses me off. We are taxed to no end. It's suffocating. Find a way to hit them with a 30-40% tax on foreign remittances, at a minimum.

Imposing a significantly onerous tax on these remittances, say 50%, should be one step of many taken to start getting illegals to self-deport.

People would find a way to send money without paying the tax. Best to keep it near 20%

This is just the money moving that we know about. Many of the migrant workers keep their money in cash and drive it south across the border along with the used truck they are towing full of used furniture.

Yup and don't expect any massive reduction in taxes anytime soon either.

One of my customers, a small company, has something like 6B of $$$ that goes through them to Mexico.

the big banks have services as well as Moneygram and others like them.

This is HUGE business. Congress won't touch this. I wonder if an EO is possible.

Cut those payments to zero, close some military bases, do away with refundable tax credits, audit those on social security disability (offer rewards to those with evidence of able-bodied people getting disability, do not forgive student debt, etc. With those savings, give those who pay income tax a tax break.

You left off gutting entitlements.

One of the many levers to encourage self deportation.

Btw, I love the inclusivity and equity this will provide to all the undocumented workers. What better way to build a place in this community than by paying their fair share.

Yep, phase out entitlements, 10% reduction per month until gone. Can't vote until you have repaid any and all state and federal assistance that you have received. Have the bottom 50% pay some amount of income tax, nothing at all isn't their far share.

Zero chance $5.7 billion was sent to Nigeria. There's a 2 way street with funds going to-from there. I got an email just last week that a prince from Nigeria needed my banking information so he could send me $2.4 million. No way I'm the only American he's helping……

I'm a bit disappointed that the response to this graph is "we should find a way to tax it" instead of "American citizens are taxed too much."

Thanks for sharing that chart.

The only surprise to me is that Israel is so low. I figured they'd be higher.

If they want to take that kind of risk to save on taxes, I'm fine with it. It will be shut down pretty quick after the first few cartel hijackings.

Tax it at 50%. Pay half of net collected out as tax free reparations for first ten years. Enjoy the spending boost in the general economy. Sit back and watch the dems squeal.

Trump gets it, USA has been supporting everyone…EVERYONEand party is over.

I predict Trump will invade Venezuela along with other rogue central and South American countries.

Next 4 years are going to be a root and tooting adventure for team USA.

I'd like to see a similar chart of "net" remittances rather than only outgoing. I care more about the countries that are drains. I've lived in 4 countries and certainly sent back a lot of cash to the USA in the process.

Never thought I'd see folks on this board advocating for more taxes.

Guessing you might not fully understand what these remittances are and by whom they are made, or else you're just playing dumb and know what the rest of us are after.

A lot of these remittances are already taxed, especially to countries not Mexico. The folks remitting overseas have earned the money in the US, paid taxes and are sending some of it home.
Where they are likely taxed again, depending on the country.

Somehow taxing these legit transactions doesn't seem like the answer.

I want them to leave. The less money they can send back, the faster they go home.

You want to send USD abroad? Go live there.
