raise or suspend the debt ceiling (racking up more debt) without significant & real spending cuts attached to it. I've been negotiating to that end. No apologies.
Can't you let Elon come up with some cuts? You do realize Trump is not in office yet.
Also, list the cuts you have recommended. TIA
So, what has he come up with? Shutting down the government at this point is dumb. You can get what you want when the R's control all branches of government in a month.
There was a reason I was a staunch DeSantis backer back in the primary. This kind of crap and calling for doing away with the debt ceiling tells me Trump hasn't learned a thing. A Fiscal libtard.BMX Bandit said:Trump thinks Roy is a RINO. strange indeedSchrute Farms said:

So who is outta line Trump or Chip? I'll go with Trump on this issue. Debt will kill us as the worlds foremost economy, and probably already has. We are currently paying more To service the debt than we are on defense. Its insane.Fitch said:
This is going to be very common with as small a margin as there is in the House. A single rep out of line or an absolutist voting against on principle will tank the legislative agenda.
How much did Trump raise the debt in 2017-2020 and how much did Biden raise the debt in 2021-2024?CDUB98 said:Biden's debt is way more, so zip it.eric76 said:

It used to be the case that the government didn't shut down when we hit a debt limit. If I remember correctly, it was Carter who changed that.Science Denier said:Phatbob said:You do realize he actually IS part of the group that comes up with actual budgets, not Elon, right?Science Denier said:Quote:

I have been a huge Trump proponent after he won the nomination. And I still am.Bryanisbest said:Ag87H2O said:
Yeah, Trump needs to shut up on this one. Sometimes he's his own worst enemy.
Chip Roy is generally a very good Representative. These are conversations that need to happen internally.
Trump wears his thoughts on his sleeve. That is what people love about him. All you DeSantis people go on complaining. That battle is over.
makes perfect sense when you remember chip roy endorsed desantis over trump during the presidential primary which prompted a similar attackSchrute Farms said:

if trump were whipping his party to be complaint with something conservative, we'd be 100% in agreement with him.KerrAg76 said:
Sure is funny when Pelosi whips her party into 100% compliance she's glorified, but Trump is not allowed to do the same (now I don't agree with his public shaming strategy)
there you are acting like Trump calling me out but missing the point, the best interests for Trump right now is to get the CR passed with a debt ceiling change, period.BMX Bandit said:if trump were whipping his party to be complaint with something conservative, we'd be 100% in agreement with him.KerrAg76 said:

funny how conservatives want our elected officials to act like conservatives.
of course liberals glorify pelosi for acting like a liberal and getting liberal bills passed.
Old bill: $110BB in deficit spending (unpaid for), $0 increase in the national credit card.
— Chip Roy (@chiproytx) December 19, 2024
New bill: $110BB in deficit spending (unpaid for), $4 TRILLION+ debt ceiling increase with $0 in structural reforms for cuts.
Time to read the bill: 1.5 hours.
I will vote no.
There is not a more faithful advocate of conservative policy, constitutionally limited government, or MAGA principles than @ChipRoyTX

President Trump will not have a more principled, hardworking ally than @ChipRoyTX

Guess my question would be why didn't he just endorse the original bill and add on the debt limit removal, it looks like Elon front-ran him on this, which is starting to become a trend.Farmer_J said:
Ben Shapiro had an interesting take on this budget battle.
Essentially, Trump, Johnson and the Dems already agreed to the bill. His theory is that Trump wants all the spending passed under Dems before he takes office and would like the debt ceiling limit removed, so it's not an issue when he's President.
Kinda sounds like trump

That is one of the things I hate about Trump, he is not a conservative when it comes to spending and deficits - deficits whet thru the roof during his administration -granted alot of the spending was Covid related- but if he ran his business(s) running up so much debt, he would not be in business long, I can't see why he will not apply that to government - Hopefully he will during his upcoming term
The US must get spending under control - we do not have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem
